That is because America is considerably more violent than Britain, there is easier access to weaponry to the normal guy when in Britain there isn't. Brits play villains in Hollywood movies so it only makes sense, there is something sinister about us I guess.
It's the suave accent, we fucking can't get enough of it. That, and you'll always be dirty Brits to us :v:.
What kind of crime goes on in Britain that warrants officers carrying around submachine guns?
Tea heists everybody on the floor or the crumpet gets it
Great, so now when they accidentally shoot someone it kills them dead at sub machine gun speed.
Great, so now when they accidentally shoot someone it kills them dead at sub machine gun speed.
Now you can have 800 accidents a minute!
I got the creepy feeling that you can twist this to eventually say, "I'd rather have some bored government worker watching me at night then potentially getting raped." Or something similar. This is how Totalitarian Governments are made, with comments like the one you just wrote.
I think you're taking it a bit overboard there. It's not a case of, "constant security, or none," there's a happy medium. Plus, have you ever lived in the UK? Not a very nice place at night time... not very nice during the day either, but the night is especially bad. Bunch of neds try starting shit with you anytime you're within their line of fucking sight. If the police will scare them away then good riddance I say.

Britian
The thing is Britain is not that violent to start giving officers guns, giving officers guns can be extremely risky business, guns should only be used if there are known threats in the area with weaponry, I wouldn't like to see officers walk around with handguns everyday.
Really? I live in the US, and when I was in grade school, we occasionally had a county policeman in the building carrying a handgun. It wasn't like he was busting 8 year old thugs or anything. Like they would just sometimes walk into the building for whatever reason with a gun.
lolpolicestate
Having police without guns is silly. It's like having firemen to take out major fires only using blankets. [editline]07:09AM[/editline] At least 9mm semi auto gun should be obvious.
You don't see firemen walking around with fire extinguishers clinging on their belts. :downs:
Yeah well I don't know about you but I don't see any firemen walking around anyway. :downs:
Firemen wait in firestations.
Yeah well I don't know about you but I don't see any firemen walking around anyway. :downs:
You misunderstand, he was implying that all policemen should be as capable of stopping crime as firemen are at putting out fires. But since firemen don't carry a fire extinguisher with them all the time on the job, his comparison is invalid. Edit: Also, I live near a Civil Defence outpost, which means I see firemen all the time. :q:
I always assumed that it was the States that was fucking horrible at night, and that England was relatively safe at night.
As a general rule of thumb: "Where there are other people; it's horrible." People are cunts no matter where you go, unfortunately.

Edit: Also, I live near a Civil Defence outpost, which means I see firemen all the time. :q:
But policemen are out and about, whereas firefighters sit around at the fire station all day. There are more crimes than there are fires, and technically policemen CAN carry a gun on them at all times, but apparently they don't. Firefighters can't patrol the same way policemen can, but they have no reason to.
I guess the point is, the police in the UK do have firearms.

A hand-picked team from CO19, the Metropolitan Police's elite firearms unit, will walk the beat in gun crime hotspots where armed gangs have turned entire estates into "no go" zones. London cops get all the fun with being able to kill chavs :saddowns:
No they can't, only CO-19 is allowed to carry weapons with them, and even then, they have to be kept in the car, and in locked safes, with only 2 mags of ammo.
I meant physically. I am aware that they don't and are not allowed to.
It's a stock photo.
Actually it's a whole gun.
What about killing Unarmed Brazilians on Subways?
Fine by me.
they shold just bomb london its full of black kids with guns crime would go down 90%
I think everyone is wary of police officers with guns since they mistakenly shot that gun on the tube who they thought was a terrorist.
I would love to see officers walking around here with MP5's. It would keep the chavs quiet. [editline]12:59PM[/editline]
I think everyone is wary of police officers with guns since they mistakenly shot that gun on the tube who they thought was a terrorist.
But he ran, any normal guy would probably just say it wasn't him or he's innocent.
higher levels of gun crime. :britain:
Yea, lets go cap some bitches when armed soldiers are patrolling the streets brah. *facepalm*. You know, I like you folks from Britain, but you sure do have alot of fuckwits who think breathing leads to increased gun violence.
Go go airstrip one!
It's the suave accent, we fucking can't get enough of it. That, and you'll always be dirty Brits to us :v:.
It's ok, you're our special little traitors to the crown!
It doesn't say that that gun is... All that COD4 knowledge gone to your head hmmm?
It DOES say that they're SMGs though, but the G36C (It has a G36 style carrying handle and optics system in this photo, but is too short to be a G36K) is generally classed as one, as is the AKS74U which fires the same round as the AK74. Not sure about the rifle in the foreground though. I doubt it's a Colt M4. The receiver and stock seem different. I think this post is pretty redundant Oh yeah, and it is a stock photo, so that makes this even more pointless.
