A minor update was released to bring back all the Halloween maps (October 26th), as well as a set of Halloween contracts. Good stuff. The longer you'd time, the more damage the donk would do. If you don't time at all, it'd do piss-poor damage. Ideally that'd put it squarely around stock in terms of damage in cca 0.5s timing situations which are the most common, possibly outdamaging it at short range (where it's also the hardest to time a donk), but being inferior at long range, where the LC is spammable and easy to donk with. Something I didn't take into account when making those graphs, Valve arguably "solved" the max range spam issue by adding damage falloff to the direct impact damage of the bombs. At long range, donks do between 106 and 115 as a result rather than 131 that you see in the graphs. I wouldn't exactly call that "fixed" though. The main issue is that the minicrit of the donk explosion is not affected by falloff and is always 81, so unless they make the falloff so extreme that long-distance bomb impacts do like 1 damage, it's going to be a half-assed fix to max range spam. It doesn't solve the main problem of the weapon either, that being short range timed donks being bad. In fact it sorta exacerbates it when you time a mid range donk and it does something like 123 and you effectively get punished for correctly estimating the donk distance. If you still decide to go down this balancing route and buff base impact damage, people won't bother with donks. If you buff explosion damage, max range spam will get good again. Just abandon this bandaid distance falloff solution entirely Valve, there's no way to make it work.
late response to the war paint thing, but I honestly like civic duty in FT and below. FN just looks too clean for my tastes nowadays Alternatively, I LOVE park pigmented. Too bad its elite grade, means ill never get my grubby mitts on one :frown:

[/sp] Bit of a (probably late) downer here, but [URL="https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/7d1voz/miggy_founder_of_flantf_and_ferocitygaming_has/"]Miggy (the guy who was in Charge of Florida LAN, a big part of stadium.tf and one of the planners for Esports Arena) died of cancer a few days ago.[/URL] I didn't know him as much, except for a few times in the LAN planning discord Sideshow(?) set up back on tf.tv a year or so ago, but he seemed like a good guy. He'll be greatly missed.

So, with the end of 2017 coming up, and TF2 not exactly having had a stellar year, what is on top of your wishlist for 2018?

They want community maps, cosmetics and war paints for both. One ships in the summer, the other at Christmas. The Heavy update is included with one of those update. Heavy gets a quality revamp and interesting new weapons. Valve continues with their comp based rebalance in both updates. A mainly community made MVM update is put out in March/April. It includes 3 community made MVM maps, a set of new Australiums, a new type of silver weapons, and a new crate with cosmetics. Valve announces they want this to be a yearly update and tells the community to keep making MVM maps and missions. A new revamped tutorial that covers all classes and gives rewards like backpack expanders, name/description tags, weapon skins and cosmetics for completing it. Valve also revamps the economy making it easier foe new players to get the weapons they want (possibly using a Pyroland type contract system for all weapons and getting rid of normal weapon drops). Valve settles on a competitive format they like and fund the prize pool for a couple of tournaments that follow the format they like. They also do something to allow you to directly support the teams you like in game (perhaps team stickers that you can put on your weapons where 100% of the revenue goes to the team like map stamps). A new Halloween map made by Valve would be awesome as well to go along with a few community maps, but everything else I listed is probably way too much for the TF2 team. I would love more MVM stuff but instead of new Australiums I'd prefer the unused Botkillers, like the uranium one or whatever. Or Botkillers for differet weapons for that matter, having all skins going for the primary stock weapons always is kinda boring. Also, unrelated, but how come Valve never made the Spycrab tradable? Seems weird to me that things like Archimedes and the 3A ones are, but not the Spycrab.

This isn't a big one for me, but I'm interested in what approach they end up taking. Heavy pack. This will take a while, especially if paired with a theme for a big update. I'm rooting for a "Cold War" that'll cover everything from arctic landscapes to the coldness of space. MvM update. Maps, missions, campaigns, rewards: you get the idea. Most importantly, I'd like additions or changes that will add more depth, challenge, and fun to its gameplay, though I haven't quite figured out what they'd be. Revisiting community servers. The communal/pub aspect is what pulled me in and kept me playing TF2. I believe that this pub aspect can be brought back to its original glory, all while preventing the ugly parts of community servers from emerging.

The one thing I hate with plaid potshotter are the grey parts, you'll know what I mean if you look at it close enough, as if the paint was scratched off, I honestly don't know why they give paints these imperfections, it peeves me off. And yes, I'm talking about Factory New, it's honestly looks like the original model is clipping through the paint or something.

Does it seem rather obvious to anyone else that they will make another update making the rest of the weapons paintable? Because there's some really odd weapons left out, like the Force a Nature and such.
