No, people need to stop saying that illicit and plain illegal business tactics are "OK, because you could have just checked beforehand XDDDD"
Where did I say it was OK for them to do this? I said it wasn't their fault for him not reading the contract correctly.
Where did I say it was OK for them to do this?
I'm confused to hell as to how this works. I see partners all the time with gameplay footage/music that don't get strikes. Is it okay with partners but not adsense accounts? It just seems confusing.
No idea, I actually got the strike after I removed it for being paranoid of strikes.
It's his fault for not reading the contract carefully. You can't sign up for a contract as long as it suits you, and then bail when it doesn't. When he signed up for the contract he signed up for all that it entailed.

There are many regulations and laws that are always valid, even if a contract trys to void or change them, for exactly that kind of situation.
I don't sympathize with him. Never sign a contract you haven't read or understood. I always tell my friends to read what they sign and this is exactly why. He's a fool. He looks young, though. If he signed the contract before turning 18 he could void it.
Ultimately, this crap gives them more power to be douchebags: http://allthingsd.com/20120507/google-gets-deeper-into-the-content-business-by-putting-money-into-machinima/
Christ people jumped on this bandwagon within minutes.. machinima lost like a million subs and 'athene' jumped on it with a black and white video about how he is going to leave aswell. Life binding contracts aren't enforceable even a child knows this.. No one can lock you to something for LIFE. Read stuff before you sign it or simply take the contract to a local court and say oh look at this. Then they will go oh yeah it's crap and they can't force you to it next. The same people who jump on this bandwagon are the same people who reposted KONY 2012 videos on their facebook thinking they were helping. For instance any content i uploaded when i was doing videos had to either have me doing a voice over / tutorial to be eligible for add sense. And if the video was over a certain length and i wasn't talking pretty much the whole time e.g a play though then it didn't count and couldn't be monetised. It's easy to get started i have 153k views on my channel and maybe 8 videos monetised and i've got about £90 on the add sense account from it
The infamous "Dumb Phil" talks about this in 12:20 thank goodness his idiocy in games doesn't translate to everything else haha He talks about machinima contracts
You are saying it's his fault, therefore implying that he deserves that he gets what it says in there, otherwise it wouldn't be his fault because he wouldn't have caused anything.
Well you got the wrong impression from what I said. Of course it sucks, I don't think he deserves this problem, but I have zero sympathy for him because of him not reading the damn contract. If anything, you're defending a guy who didn't use his common sense.
this is braindeadly one of the best hunters that plays wow and as you've probably guessed he's as braindead as a fart but very entertaining

Like, it says the music i'm using is owned by someone else, and it adds their info/copyright in the bottom right corner of my video, but i've only ever gotten one or two videos outright removed, and my account is still in good standing. i even got a copyright notice on a classical piece that's in the public domain (downloaded it off WIKIPEDIA for christ sake). should i take it down, despite the fact that the info on who owns the music is featured below the video? i dont understand how ANY of this shit works.
I don't get this. Just yesterday SeaNanners posted a video where he mentioned he was no longer with Machinima.
Because Machinima owns him, not his channel. Machinima could sue for damages if he breaks his contract. The best way to get around it is be such a pain in the ass that Machinima wants to void the contract.
So, he's a slave? No. They don't OWN him. They own his content. If he posts his content anonymously and makes it under a different name, they can't do shit because they have no way of knowing it's him.
Because getting paid for playing video games is such a bad life.
