I don't actually have this game, and I probably won't get it because I played the first game, beat it, and was underwhelmed. Also, the only thing I've heard about this game is all the controversy surrounding loot boxes and stuff. I don't even know what the game is about! It's such a firestorm of controversy. Poor Warner Brothers joking, they brought this upon themselves with the decisions they made about the game.
Anyways, I thought this was a funny and interesting mechanic they included in the game.
Are there still microtransactions even though the game is single player? If so and if you choose to not buy anything how does that affect the gameplay? Are you stuck grinding for days?
Again, I have to reiterate the fact that I haven't played the game. However, it does appear that Warner Brothers put loot boxes in a single player game. Additionally, a lot of people are complaining that some of the best Orc captains are hidden in loot boxes, and that grinding for levels and new gear is prohibitively tedious. The main complaint I've seen is that they made playing the game boring so that they can extract more money from players who get tired of boring, repetitive combat and decide to buy a loot box to speed up their game.
Imagine paying money so you can play less of a game. How did video games get to this point?
So nothing has changed since August? Oh well.
Unfortunately, I don't think so. I'm sure some people will find enjoyment in the game. Probably not me, though.
The game isn't that bad. Its nothing special though.
The loot boxes are not necessary in any way, though they can be annoying, because modifying followers in any way sends you to the micro transaction menu. If you do want to buy boxes, you get so much in game currency very quickly that you can just dump and buy them without spending a cent of real money, because eventually you run out of stuff to actually spend the in-game currency on.
Still not excusable though, but I don't think it ruins the game. Just don't buy the boxes or you'll ruin it for the rest of us.
Too late. The suits at the top of the video game industry already figured out that loot boxes are a great way to keep making money off a game. Loot boxes are here to stay.
