I have never been so angry at a video game as I was today.
Why do people, in high level ranked 2v2, decide that we should give up 7 seconds into a match?
I just don't understand.

Adding a premium rocket pass and not getting any actual content beyond ugly cosmetics in 5 months, with the most notable addition being the Nostalgia map, even though the game is still hugely popular, as well as the focus on events being just "play games, earn gold x, spend that gold x on themed cosmetics" being severely draining on any interest in actual gameplay. This event even made it worse, at least during the anniversary and summer events you could grind for endless special crates, this event you can only get a maximum of 5. I already got all 5, they were all shitty decals, but I can't recycle them because I'd have to buy golden pumpkins from other people or i can just go fuck myself. It's these clearly money-grubbing actions that have soured me on the experience. The base game is insanely fun, but I get enough of corporate greed from League of Legends, I don't need every update Rocket League gets to become "spend MORE money on this game you already spend money on or events don't even exist".
Doesn't help that the community at least seemingly is endlessly devoted to the game and its devs. At least for League, most of the community is jaded assholes like myself who are more than aware that the game is nothing more than an addiction to them and the company behind the game, while having some talented people behind things such as art, is as a whole a piece of shit that doesn't deserve our money. I made a single comment about the rocket pass being shitty and hoping that the next update has any content beyond cosmetics, and I got people out the woodworks trying to defend Psyonix like we don't DESERVE cosmetic-only events, and that we should be thankful we get ANYTHING from them because they clearly NEED the money to sustain their premium game with $20+ in car DLC and rocket pass and crates requiring buying keys to unlock.
This was a tangent but basically: Love the base game of Rocket League, hate how much of the game has become devoted to trying and get as many pennies out of players as possible. A premium game with a microtransaction crate system, DLC car packages, real-world merchandise that also unlocks in-game cosmetics, and a Rocket Pass system is a bit overkill.
Yep it's the status quo of video games currently.
I think EU regulations will eventually put a stop to practices like this though.
People ask for more gameplay related stuff, psyonix deliver on it but then never follow up on these things to make them useful. Like tournaments for example, they were great for a short while but when people realised you don't get xp for playing in them then they died. There are also bugs so people who might be hosting a tournament can't always get into the games to spectate them.
Same with clubs, they seemed cool but they're useless when you think about it.
On the plus side I am glad the misc gamemodes are now ranked but I appreciate that might suck for people who just want to mess around with friends in them gamemodes.
You can turn the rankings off in those modes, and treat them the same way that un-ranked MMR modes in casual are treated; only difference being that each of the extras modes will have a different MMR instead of one universal one like it used to.
Probably for the best, as higher ranked players with 1,300+ MMR in casual almost always found it difficult to find games when dropshot/hoops/etc were all bundled under one; now they both find matches, and the matches they find are generally solid competition.

Ah yeah I know you can remove the rank references, I just meant a lot of people probably don't take them seriously so might be liable to getting flamed from other people if they didn't know it's now ranked.
