It would strange not to eventually have a downloadable version.. or even a Steam version.. Even though the game is in Alpha, if it only gets better I'd definitely pay for it.

It runs on Unity, so for now it's a browser game, and I don't think it would be strange if they would keep it that way.
Anyways it can go fullscreen just like a normal game so why would it even matter.
Is there any way to make your browser cache the game so it doesn't have to re-download every time you want to play?

Optimization, compatibility, future development capabilities. The list could go on. The biggest one would be a business opportunity. f 500 players paid $5 for it, as it is, I would bet that would pay most of the development fee's to push the game even further.
The possibilities are endless, as Sony say..

Garry moved Facepunch to different servers if I recall correctly. Everyone's original posts were first archived, later deleted. This means, people who haven't posted since then got their post count reset to 0.

I was quite active in the early days of garry's mod. I quit when the game went up for sale.

You only download it once, but it takes a bit to load even after you've downloaded it.
AFAIK registration is closed because reddit bombed the shit out of the server.
