24 shots with m4 are about -13 condition. Wow. Armor loses condition way faster, kevlar gets destroyed so fast. You have to bring 3 m4 with yourself when you want to raid someone lol
good
Confirmed. Durability scales wayyy to fast. Turn it down a notch please karen.

Less spray and pray. Good.

Not bad for a weapon that is crafted with some low quality metal... Not bad at all indeed.
So maybe killing all those nakeds won't always be worth it? It really isn't that hard to make another m4 once you have it researched. They want to scale back the usage of military weapons so... this seems to make sense to me.
I am sure it will be adjusted moving forward, or at least I hope it is adjusted moving forward.

Can servers adjust the durability rate? I'm sure we'll see no durability loss servers soon if so.

Just means the KOS guys will carry a "naked" weapon that they'll use to blow them away, like a shotgun / pipe shotgun / MP5 etc. So I guess you won't get killed by their M4 or bolt action? Yay? You'll just get wasted by another weapon.
An M4 wont jam after 150 rounds if it it cleaned and oiled but they will probably tweak the settings, if not there is nothing we can do about it :)
Why are people saying you wont be a kos asshole now? you're automatically assuming people are killing anyone on sight, when in reality people genuinly kos if they believe that the other player has good gear or they believe they are a threat to them

So they might actually stand a chance in getting away or the person who's KoSing noobs has to get closer to the target? Sounds like a good change to me.
Stalker Clear Sky also had durability feature. Gameplay a lot more interesting.

Also it's not like the majority of naked kills happen at a distance. In the end killing naked guys is perfectly fine and generally a smart strategy given the fact that currently (possibly permanently) you cannot ascertain what another person is carrying and allowing some seemingly innocent "noob" to get within shotgun range of you is too risky. I was nice to too many naked "newbies" for too long when I first started playing and got killed plenty of times because of it. Better to just waste the majority of people you come across since nine times out of ten they'll do it to you.

You may argue about how or when people use them. But making them slowly (or quickly) get destroyed will decrease the amount they are used. Look at how upset people are over it already. Obviously it bugs them because they were so used to having this giant stock pile of endless weapons and never had to worry about running out. It's basically the equivalent of "gold sink" (currency sink) that they implement into games with an over inflated economy. and yes if a modded server changes the rate of durability loss you are correct it will go back to the way it was. But they could also turn it off completely (if there isn't an option to yet it will only be a day or two before a mod is released)
Definitely breaks way too fast, it's not terrible though, a small tweak to lower the decay rate would probably make it perfect.

In addition this is apparently occurring for all items in the game. As such it's clearly the case that their numbers are off. If it's true that an M4 is almost broken after one magazine then it's plain as day that the numbers aren't correct. The way to control higher end things isn't to make them flimsy, it's to make them difficult and costly to acquire. 30 low quality metal isn't that hard to churn out. You'll just see gameplay shift to having guys run around with several M4's. They'll still be just as obnoxious.
Something you are all failing to remember is that the M4 model is a PLACEHOLDER ONLY and that it will go away and be replaced with a much more hand crafted, rigged together model down the road. Something Frankensteined together like that in the real world would fall apart after many shots as well.
Yeah one thing that probably should be added , is a jam feature. That is the largest concern in weapon maintenance anyway. If you fire for extended periods of time or fail to clean a weapon thoroughly , then the gunk can pile up easily leading to alot of jams. And that is with quality ammunition , none of this homemade crap in rust. That would be akin to dumping sand and oil down the barrel of a gun. So in short more durability , but the lower the durability on a weapon is , the more jams and the longer you hold a trigger down, the more durability each consecutive shot uses.

I've heard lots of speculation that they might become super rare and/or uncraftable, but I've never heard anything definitive that they would be completely replaced. Even after adding the new hand crafted revolver, they didn't take out the 9mm or p250.
And that is with quality ammunition , none of this homemade crap in rust. In Rust the only viable item usable for lubing the action at this point is animal fat. Not only does it not lubricate as well in the first place, but it holds dirt and dust like a magnet.
Durability needs to be tweaked ... can't even farm rocks and wood without bringing 5 hatchets with you .... the degradation on weps and hatchets is crazy

That would stop fresh spawn nakeds running to the nearest rad town looting a weapon and killing the next person the see. You should have to loot the weapon run back to your house make a cleaning kit at the work bench and then clean your weapon and/or repair it as well. The cleaning kit should be L.Q.M (for the cleaning rod) cloth (for the cleaning cloth that attaches to the rod also to wipe down the weapon) and Animal Fat (for the lubracation).
Its not a speculation its a fact devs said it a long time ago
I didn't say I didn't believe him, just that I hadn't heard it myself, which is why I asked for a cite. Do you have one? Since there is no roadmap, I like to read things for myself. For example, some folks have claimed that we are cavemen based on something Garry said. Reading it for myself, I didn't get the impression that we were actual cavemen, just that we were like cavemen, running around with rocks to start. In short, I like to read it for myself rather than rely on folks to tell me what is or isn't factual secondhand.

Exactly what the doctor ordered! ;) This change will piss off exactly the kind of people that really shouldn't be playing Rust in the first place! Now somebody needs to do a cumulative damage vs. durability loss spreadsheet and see if it's biased toward any particular weapon type. (hopefully the military types are less durable)
