So I can get 60 fps most of the time but I get some frequent dips to 40 and with my machine I should be easily getting 120+ which is what I want. I've poked around a few threads and tried some launch options but nothing seems to help. I get that the game is in development, I am just trying to see if there is anything I can do to help me achieve better FPS at this time. My PC got like half power of ur gear and im getting same performence (maybe i have sometimes drops to 30 FPS) - funny thing, no matter what resolution or settings i use i have almost same performance (maybe 5 FPS difrence)... Unity is just shit. To people that think they will fix it - no they don't cause engine is broken. I played many unity games and poor performence is just common for this shitty engine.
Rust is pretty unoptimized in a few ways at the moment. You'll likely find some performance gains by turning the shader levels down (in the F2 menu). The game's in alpha, so you should adjust your expectations a bit if you expect it to be polished-1.0 quality. It will get there, but it isn't there yet, it's still very much a work in progress. If you're using any launch options to force a subset of DirectX, remove them, they're unsupported and they only used to help improve performance in the legacy version of the game for a period before an update caused that trick to stop working.
Yeah I know the game isn't optimized, I was just wondering if there were some settings somewhere I could change to help. Guess not. Kinda lame but it is what it is.
try these settings
He got high-end PC and u suggest him to use low/very low graphic settings? :D
Rust is pretty unoptimized in a few ways at the moment. I have gtx 980 and i get max 70 FPS while im looking at desert with few rocks. :D Face it - engine is just broken. And they want to add many new things (landmarks, probadly some new light sources, new details of terrain, new weather effects), so map, and scenes to render gonna be way more complex. So at best performance gonna be shitty as it is today.
I have a high end rig too and I prefer lower settings because less stuff loading in = less rubber banding. The extra fps isn't bad either. The settings I put keep the game looking good at the minimum, any lower and the ground would be black and stuff would be really ugly. With these settings I went from like 40 fps to over 120 usually.
You guys are spoiled:-) whats wrong with 40-60 FPS?
screw you and your 120 fps, i'm happy when i get steady 20-30 :P
You guys are spoiled:-) whats wrong with 40-60 FPS?
There is nothing inherently wrong with 60 fps but you wouldn't want to go back to 30 fps after gaming at 60, I am the same with 120. I don't like losing half my FPS for no reason but I get the game is in development. I am just trying to find solutions if they are out there. @MrTHC I tried your settings for the sake of testing, same deal.
I've discovered as of late that I get an average of about 25 FPS on every single graphics settings possible. I've toggled every option you could imagine and my FPS never changes more than about 1-2 frames. I know my rig is good enough for Fantastic especially since I get 35 FPS on both Fantastic and Fastest.
