I was wondering if there was a way to reduce/eliminate the shrubbery because I'm getting serious FPS lag. I'm willing to sacrifice some more realism to actually make it playable.
Hit F1 type " grass.on false " Your good to go.
You can do grass.on false in the console to turn off most of the grass but... afaik there's no way to remove other parts of the scenery.
Frankly I think this is a good thing... people could potentially abuse the ability to remove scenery and give themselves a clearer view while other people have a big ass shrub in their way.

What are your hardware specs? When launching the game what setting are you selecting under the resolution? Have you tried adjusting the slider under the graphics quality section in the in game menu?
