• Rust getting me

Hello guys. So I got the game yesterday and I've been playing non-stop more or less. I find it utterly impossible to stay alive for more then two hours. Even if I just stay in one place crafting and try to build up my base. It always ends the same, Spawn killed/ Raided by groups. Seems to me the Stronger gets stronger and the noobs like me gets less and less chance to live. The spots where animals spawn are always controlled by stronger players running around with M4's. Does right now I really don't know what to do. I don't want to go PvE. But I don't want to be hunted for the five pieces of food I just gathered . What are most guys problem ? Shoots on sight, hunts you down. Sure this is Rust and the game is a Survival genre game...But this is just getting ridiculous. I can barley get enough wood to build my shelter and wooden door before Raiders come hunting me down. I tried in all sorts of areas. Any advice is gladly accepted. Flamers and idiot comments are welcome somewhere else .
Find a team. That's really all you can do. I am making a website for team/clan listings relatively soon. Being solo is hard - even with a group of 2/3 people it's still hard. Not much you can do but keep on trying.
try to keep two shacks, one 'main' one that you hardly go to, and one sub one that you go back to. put sleeping bags in both. try not to go back to the shack too often, dont ever light fires near your shack. never lead anyone back to your shack, and only go in your shack when no one is looking unless you actually have alot of stuff you want to hold. as soon as someones seen you go into your shack, thats game over for that place imo. move on.
Keep trying is all I can tell you. I've always been solo and it's actually extremely easy for me. Of course there are times when I die however being solo is not too difficult once you start establishing everything. Try to understand the environment you're in. I.E. the amount of gunfire in the area, loot spawns, recourse spawns, etc. and once you find a decent place you stay you should be okay.
dude i know its impossible to To get a good base started or collect resources without a guy Killing you even if you say that your friendly.

I've been trying to only light fires during the day. It makes it challenging when you first spawn in to survive that first night. Only lighting fires during the day really reduces the amount of people you draw to your camp. I've also been trying to put some barracades down around my shelter, as it also cuts down on how much light you emit. The suggestion for two shacks, each with sleeping bags and minimum supplies is ideal. It can take away to get to the point where you have enough resources for two shacks and sleeping bags though if you keep getting killed early. I'd definitely recommend using someone's abandoned shack without a door at first to save on resources. Try to find one with a campfire and storage box too.

I then tried to message you multiple times and tell you that I didn't want your stuff and I would protect it til you got back. I even tried to get your attention in chat but you never responded to me. I apologize for killing you. I wish you good luck.
I actually ran into somebody today who robbed me instead of killing me. And then I ran into some trigger happy guy who did the friendly dance and then shot me, stealing the only thing I had, the torch.

I had to restart from sratch because of a 2 months break. The most important part is: don't let anyone know that you life in the area that means: -no campfires at night -get an extra shack just for campfires -make sure nobody sees you entering your main base/shack -do not open/close doors when somebody runs past your house (obviously because of the sound) While you follow those rules, farm all blueprints and build yourself a nice base. It will take pretty long to get a safe base and proceed normally if you are alone, but it can be done. The other option is to settle at the edge of the map with no resources and no people around. Or just join a group. good luck edit: I figured living in a forest helps. It is pretty easy to escape/hide when you are being chased/spotted!
Try near-suicide runs into rad areas, get all blueprints. Then acquire enough metal for an iron door, disregard m4 at first. P.S. This should be sticky or something

The lack of Log pile spawn and animal spawn makes it quite difficult to survive does it not ? Gathering 50 wood for shack, 30 for axe, 30 for campfire (Fuel etc) and over 300 metal pieces and sulfur.

All i know is that there are (as i said in my other post) close to no resources in those areas. I didn't intend that option to be chosen ;) I might have phrased it incorrectly.
Building at the edge of the map is hard to do for two reasons, first you tend to have to run there in the first place and secondly there is no resources there so even if you manage to get enough wood to make a shelter there is no animals in order to make a sleeping bag, so if you die you have to start over because finding the base you just set up is tricky to find and get to as a new player and as a new spawn.

It was on the 7th September when shit went down (Sounds historial right?) The Arche clan/Kevar spawn killer whores started building (Most likely) Duped huge bases at the main spawn and population of fresh spawns/New people to the game. Me and my friend had a base set up with a storage room in the second floor with over 3-4 metal doors in total theyd had to blow away to even get in there. They came in and raided us in under 2 mins, i played the game for over 20 hours in total and we had M4's shotguns etc... but we dident get a single one of them cuz kevar is so OP ATM. So, i live besides a mountain far away from the populare spawn locations with the base behind a mountain, we are pretty safe there try it out for yourself dude! Animals , wood etc.... also spawn there (Including a village with shit loads of stuff!) I hope i was able to help you.
Right now I found a dead spot on the map on the edge..Got enough food to last for a while. I mostly do long trips to gather what I need naked. Leaving everything I need in my base.
Even with me and my friend it's hard. We can only use a rock right now and one person with a hatchet comes along and wrecks it all.
damn metal door blueprints been eluding me for ages :)
