That question is for you, newcomer. Seriously, let's take a cool. Rust is probably a fun game with it's unique ideas and maybe even atmosphere. But why are you so obessed? Why do you beg for keys and run around saying:"I watch so many streams oh god I want to play that so much!!11". Come on. It's a fun game, but it's just a game. It doesn't even have that much content to be so obessed. It's in alpha after all. I wouldn't say that it has anything groundbreaking at this point. Why are you so mad about getting access to it? I am sorry for that thread. I just don't understand.
Like me and probably other's, we are just super hyped about this game. It basically combines the 2 most epic games out there into one.

minecraft and dayz?
In games like WarZ and DayZ, you go from place to place scavenging items. However, in Rust - you can create your own home or society and feel much safer. Grouping with people just feels so right - having nice camps setup and everything. You go in groups to scavenge then come home, it's just so awesome. In Rust, you feel at home.
It sounds fun as hell to me but I still don't get why people want alpha keys so much, it's an alpha, there's got to be tons of problems and not as much content as everyone wants or expects. When it's a beta, that'll probably change, but for now I can wait.
It's insanely impressive for an alpha to be completely honest. Like, if you compare it to The Dead Linger alpha, Rust has a lot more going for it. The Dead Linger was more like a small tech demo.
I'd say it is closer to a proper multiplayer stalker game without mutants. All it needs is stalkers bullet physics and gun crapping out on you and it would be great.

Keep in mind, It's also a game that in ALPHA.
Even in its alpha stage, I'll have to admit Rust is extremely addictive.
The fact that all this stuff is in Alpha builds even more hype about it thus creating a super influx of wanting keys then creating Obsession :L
Why are we so obsessed? really? REALLY? Its a Fuckin awesome game. its downright awesome!
Just because we want to get a key for a awesome game dosent mean we are obsesses think about it befor you make a thread about it.
Alright, who disagreed that its an awesome game. :l

Well if you look at the drawing thread there's a few good posts with a lot of time and dedication put into it. And you want to know why? It's because they wanted to become dedicated to testing the game, and to be part of the closed alpha, and to be part of the closed alpha is a great privilege that so many want to have. Now that's why they want to have a key...
I got a key a long long time ago, probably 6 months, and didnt touch it for that long because it wouldnt load. i saw some posts about it and gave it another shot and its fricken great!

Personal opinion, i think people are so obsessed as this game is like 3 different games put together and they all go together so well. Minecraft - Building/Survival. WarZ/DayZ - Zombies/Loot/PvP-E. Stalker - OpenWorld exploration. I have yet to get a key, but i can only wait. I mean it looks great but it can wait for me.
But people run around yelling about how they want a game like I have never seen in any community. The game is not worth that obession.
The Limited Keys is what makes it an obsession. The very fact that people have to wait somehow enthralls people.
But people run around yelling about how they want a game like I have never seen in any community. The game is not worth that obession.
Well, the majority of the people begging for alpha keys are kids. You know how kids are, they get unreasonably excited about things. I'm personally excited for the direction of this game, but the current state of the gameplay is more hilarious than crazy impressive. You basically spawn, try not to die, gather resources, try not to die, attempt to build a house, and try not to die. Oh, and kill other players all day. Fun stuff though.
The Dead Linger has tons of potential, especially with the new engine being implemented in the next patch. Keep in mind, It's also a game that in ALPHA.
The dead linger - "sucks balls", i got it and i dont play it because whey don't listens to bug rapports like they did in the earlier state :( ( and its got some relay wired broken parts / things - where could have been fixed many time if they listen to they're community a little better ) and the game havent " expanded / got any cool updates/ major big changes :( sadly ) and the new engine not gonna give that big a different ting to the game itself. ( sorry to say ) and why we want into Rust. for me its easy to answer your question - its looking cool, fun and new ( its got the futurs what warz / dayz is missing ) and even if its a alpha its looking good already. and some of us want to give a tribute to the forum/game <- "in some way" ( being constructive and make bug rapports <- dont look like many people does what) <-- "i may be wrong about this point"
I think everyone is so hyped to get one because of 2 reasons. First, the game looks awesome as it is. Dayz and Minecraft in one. 2nd, they probably think having one would make you look awesome for being one of the first testers of this game. I want a key but I'm not begging for one. I'm actually trying to earn one based on opportunities garry gives out.
The game is Minecraft, Stalker, and DayZ combined. What's not to like?
Because, It has a minecraft craft your way, If you dont have it get it by working feel to it. Then they added extended survival People Food-Radiation Building Its pretty amazing!
It's a masterpiece, they are millionaires! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPhubc3x6Pw
It brings the concepts of several good games to make a fantastic game, even in an alpha state. With zombies as place holders (being one of the only ties to Day Z imo), once they are gone and replaced with more spooky npcs, this game will become instantly better. This previous patch, though I've only played 10 minutes of it, looks really good. the wooden planks, just seems better.
Simple question requires a simple answer. It appeals to us, no other reason.
The game promises to be something that a lot of people have been looking for, for a long time now. While games like DayZ and WarZ (oops, I mean Infestation: Survivor Stories lol) can be entertaining, they are missing some fundamental aspects that are already covered in the Alpha of Rust. Why would people not want to participate in making a game that promises so much, as good as it can be? Why would people not want to help shape such an appealing idea into a masterpiece? I mean no offense, but you ask a fairly silly question OP.

Everyone that played dayz and warz is hoping to get a fully polished version of these types of games, and Rust sure seems very promising.
