• A great streaming event

I'm posting this as a campaign to get people playing rust and to show the power of the game. I believe the hype of the event could potentially add tens of thousands of players to rust servers. The requirement is to get a collection of high profile streamers on twitch to agree to lead their 50 player (or 100 depending on server capability) armies to resource horde, build a mega-fortress and finally attack each other, when the opposing streamer dies, the game is over. Obviously it could take a while for the event to finish so another streamer would need to be selected to take over the army on the next shift. The communication will be over teamspeak where only the leading streamer will have permissions to speak to his subjects. In-game however communication is a free-for-all. Many people will be streaming the event and a news ticker will be covering the highlights and statistics. If I get positive feedback here and proposed participation from some hot streamers I will flick the switch on the project and launch a dedicated website & servers with all information and dates. If you think this idea sucks or have questions or comments please post your feedback! If you know some good and popular streamers, please point them to this thread.
Or select 2 captains. split the map in half. Captains then pick individual players who are in game, or 5 at a time. Sides have 5 game nights/days to build and gather as much as possible. On the 6th day war is allowed to begin.
A structured event like you have suggested would be the only way it would work I think. Thanks!
the problem with Rust is not theirs lack of players. The problem with Rust is theirs too many servers.
the problem with Rust is not theirs lack of players. The problem with Rust is theirs too many servers.
I don't understand how that is relevant?
Maybe. Just have to wait until more people respond to the thread. let the idea grow and get it settled out. hell it can be done with 4 smaller groups. either way, hope something like this happens. The game can use a little structure with all the madness that surrounds it. albeit great madness at times. [editline]12th February 2014[/editline]
I don't understand how that is relevant?
you mentioned it can add more players. think he was just referring to the game having the players just too many places to play. but adding more players does not hurt hahah
I don't understand how that is relevant?
right now theres 5500 players on. Not bad for any game considering its 9:30 AM PST. The problem is, theirs 4500 servers as well. having 1.2 players per server is just a total mess... Especially in a game that, at least in my opinion, you dont really start having fun on until 35+ people are online in 1 server at once (even though I think anything over 100 players is too much).

Participants can join that particular server if they are on the list
Easy fix, have a whitelisted server, announce the time, and server info... In reality, there needs to be about 1000-1500 total servers.
Gotcha... But this isnt a discussion of how many servers there are, or what is right or wrong in the game, its a discussion about getting an event like this started..... That sounds like a topic for another thread
that... doesnt.. solve the current problem I am talking about.. If you claim to be the best, get into the debate/idea/something to move this forward.
