i think that the guns you craft should look more homemade like dents made of scrape metal things like that but when you find the guns in rad zones they look normal.
Are you missing the part where this is an alpha?
There are craftable weapons that look homemade and there are military grade weapons in the game. The latter will likely not be craftable and only lootable at a later time.
Current guns are only placeholders. In the future the only weapons you will be able to make are primitive ones. Any sort of military grade weaponry will only be lootable.
What ejonkou said, the guns are being replaced, the 9mm is going to become a primitive revolver for example.
