• Hey Garry, you think we could get first person view spectator for admins? Easier to catch non-blatan

Right now you can follow people around with the invisible armor that admins use, problem with that is you can see the nametag AND hear them walking if you're close from what I understand. The next problem is you can't 100% guarantee if someone's aimbotting or esp as an administrator without being in their first person of view yourself. Basically walking in their shoes w/out them knowing. Will help admins catch the very difficult to catch cheaters in my honest opinion.
Very good idea.

I'm not sure if it's possible but this would be an amazing feature. Even if it was a delayed 'kill cam' type video like I think CoD has. Even if you're invisible ESP sees you and if they have warnings turned on when players are near they even get a warning. Makes it very difficult to investigate possible hackers.
Maybe the modding community may find a way to do this? Would be awesome, a good admin with this tool would be ideal. Not comparing dayz to rust in any way possible, but after a year of the mod, they came up with a spectator-mod/plugin for dayz admins, might just be some arma related stuff that made it work so good, but yes, this would be a fantastic feature!
Garry is putting this in but i wouldn't ask him for it but he is going to do it but i think they should have something like that for a plugin but if garry is doing it then thanks to him

If someone has ESP/Radar hacks, they can see you regardless if you're wearing invisible armor or not.
Garry just announced this.
That's not the same thing. I think an admin spectator mode would be a great anti-cheat tool in addition to what Gary is doing with cheatpunch.
Garry just announced this.
I just checked the post, doesn't say anything about better admin spec. Just a background anti-cheat that will work along side vac.
That's why my link didn't read "Garry just implemented admin spectator."
Then your response makes zero sense. Not all cheats are detectable & to be 100% sure if someone isn't hacking is to get in their shoes aka player spec.

If you think you'll be able to be 100% certain every time, you should reconsider the faillability of your own perceptions and biases.
Bump
rust essentials now has the ability to remove player name for admins using the /vanish on command.

For instance: aimbot. A legit person "aims" manually and you can see this. They move the cursor and then they shoot. It doesn't happen at the same time. For a hacker, they see an enemy and their cursor/crosshair magically jumps to the target and shoots pretty much instantly. You need to watch some first person videos of online FPS to see the difference between the two.
This actually worked well in San Andreas Multiplayer when I was an admin of a server. /spectate the player for a while, catch some really convincing evidence, and ban them when you're SURE they're doing something absolutely insane when they think no one is watching.
Yeah the problem is that even in invisible/god, players can still see your tags and hear your footsteps. Any suspicioius players straighten out pretty quick when they see an invis admin teleport to them.
No no no no no no no no no. Admins can already turn invisible, one hit you with a magic axe, and spawn any item in the game into any player's inventory. We really don't need an additional way for badmins to cheat. There is absolutely no way to tell you are being observed by an admin and it will be impossible to prove that an admin abused this power.

If admins want to cheat they can and that won't change. They need as much power as possible to combat cheating.
