So i was playing and liked this game a lot. So i have some ideas which could make this great game even better and would like to share them with you all.
I was thinking a lot of people hate being KOS (kill on sight) and it's just cheap in my oppinion and there should be something that would encourage creativity in this game. Yesterday i was robbed by some guys for the first time and laughtend while they did that. It was so much more fun then just get simply shoted. Dunno, but i guess these ideas have been crossed developers minds but i would also like to know what community would think.
So..
1. Why not add for everyone some kind of backpacks who would contain most/all items which could be looted if player triggers "surender" emotion? Why kill, then you can rob and leave bare naked person while running laughting from him.
2. Cooldowns, some kind of animation for changing quickbar item so you could aproach a guy without fear of instand headshot by gun poped out of air in his hand.
3. Handcuffs (yeah, got most ideas from other game >.>)
4. well obviously from 1. some kind of emotion showing that you surrender and cant act (change weapon etc..) for some time.
what do you think?
Right now there is to much reward for KOS. So even if you came up with a way to take every ones loot with out a shot Joe C.O.D. is going to still kill you with out blinking.

But agen with the reward for KOSing to high I hate to say but get used to "RUST King of the Hill Edition."
question , whats the difference between killing some one and taking all their shit, you are both naked and you are back to square one regardless.
kos can only be made unattractive , if it is made difficult.
to fix kos,
1 automatic weapons must be removed
2 gunpowder based ammo should only be craft able and never found so people appreciate how valuable it is
advanced ammo should only be found in the form of rare blue prints
3 weapons should never kill in one hit unless you are 5 feet away,
case in point pipe shot gun is lethal really only to axe lunatics so its perfect.
4 gunpowder weapons should be a unwieldy and a bitch to reload.
5 non gun powder weapons should actually be on a near level playing field in terms of damage , with projectile velocity and accuracy being the main draw backs , and not dps.
6gun shots should altert hostile wildlife ala left4dead style zombie hords (though not necessarily zombies)
to prevent kos , not only must the very act be uneconomical and impractical but it should have a risk all on its own , if you start shit in a dangerous area well then there should be mechanics in place that will ultimately fuck over unprepared and trigger happy morons.
I'm not sure the problem can be solved by nerfing weapons. In order for robbing to be better than killing two things need to happen:
1.) I needs to be more expensive to kill than to rob
2.) It need to be cheaper to be robbed than to be killed
Obviously balancing those two things in the context of a game because very difficult because there is no legal system and you have unlimited lives.
To make being robbed more attractive than dying, there needs to be some sort of penalty system for dying that doesn't involve loss of items. This way, the killer doesn't get anything (or at least much of anything) if they kill you, but you stand to lose something more valuable than your inventory if you die.
Maybe every time you die you "forget" how to craft something you already learned?
As a corollary, robbers would need a method to make it difficult for you to run away. Maybe a net gun, bolas, or similar? Additionally, to be a "victim", you'd need to have less chance of defending yourself than the robber does of attacking you, so that's why I mentioned that a gun nerf wouldn't be a good option. The robber is no longer a threat if they shoot, miss, and then take 30 seconds to reload.
robbing isnt really kos , and i can run away from m4 guys if i zig zag enough , people tend to not bother chasing players when they burn through 2 - 4 clips of 556 ammo doing it .

1. by its self won't stop it, but its a good idea and a good start to a system for prisoners etc
2. there is already a level of this when you draw a new weapon, try to swap fighting a zombie its already pretty brutal. you draw then cock so there is visual and audio queues to this already (if they dont play to other players you can safely assume that its in the works)
3. yeah they really need these.
i would add the ability to look into a players inventory (more important than the bag imo)
being able to search some one while an ally keeps a gun on them makes a big difference.
being able to take it unload it and put their ammo all in to a backpack gives you an extra layer of safety and would make people a lot less likely to just KoS, but it won't stop it or really prevent it in anyway
Not playing D**z SA atm, so i dont know how these handcuffs and damaging items if shooted helps with KOS problem (well it's not really a problem, it's just a little out of hand).
Well i myself, as mature player doesnt enjoy killing others and ruining their game. It would be much enjoyable to rob someone from time to time.
And yeah, someone mentioned "what's the difference between killing and robbing", well from D**z SA standpoint, you still can hide some items in your "personal inventory/not bag" and things like flashlight, axe etc. and sure... you dont have to run again prom point a to point b for 15 minutes again (i guess rust map will be bigger later on)
And it's for better immersion.
Am not looking to eliminate pvp, just want more choices how to engage a player. I believe a large part of you would agree with me.
