So i've been playing for the last week or so and I can't catch a single break, been trying to play on the EU server and getting no where. People with kevlar and M4's everywhere... Getting camped out of my small shelter every second of the day not able to actually PLAY, died 20 times and only managed to build about 3 foundations while all the older players have huge mansions, unlimited supplies / guns.
I liked that you added the bow and I would suggest you go down that route instead of armaments. THERE IS NO "SURVIVAL" IN YOUR GAME, YOU JUST DIE.
Take guns out and start adding simpler weapons, Swords, shields, Plate armour, Medieval stuff. At the moment it is just a cluster F. The playable area is so small and cramped right now but I assume you are working on that.
It seems stupid to go from making a stone hatchet to a bow and immediately onto 9mm pistol and assault rifles.... Theres no in between stuff. Makes the game look amateur and kills the experience for new players who didn't get a headstart like the rest of the players.
My feedback, I probably won't play the game again, boring and no satisfaction in it. Don't turn this into another KOS dayz variant.
(Inb4 people start whining in this thread about their precious M4's and loot piles from killing new spawns all day)
Eh, I wouldn't take guns completely out. Yeah, the powerful M4s that were with us from day 1 are a bit overpowered, but last I saw one of the devs were making a sort of 'made from scrap' type gun.
Yeah, I'd prefer that modern weapons were a bit less in number, but firearms in general should stay.
Game is borked.
I think you have a good point.
I saw a dev post a homebrew gun they'll be adding to the game so don't worry.
Guns should be way crappier and unreliable.
I wouldn't say remove the guns just changing them would be better. I suggest a civil war type guns because back then they could actually make them without machinery now most guns like the M4 are made by machines. I would rather have single shot guns that didn't do as much damage as lets say an M4. Also plate armor and such ehh maybe this is a zombie survival not medieval ara guns and such still exist but they shouldn't be craftable instead you should have to find them. On the other hand a musket and bayonet would be something you should be able to craft. ALSO M4's, pistols, etc. should have a durability sort of thing because guns IRL break and dont function properly ALL THE TIME.

This would also be a good idea.
Non craftable decent weapons, able to find them rarely. Craftable single shot terrible homemade stuff.
Durability is also a great idea. Thanks for not being a jerk about my rant :)
Taking guns out is the dumbest idea ever, and about removing the m4??? WHY???? it takes almost nothing to get one why would you remove it if it's available to everyone easily, farm zombies or radiation town for 15 mins and you'll get it.

Your welcome :D I thought it was a good idea that just needed some touch ups to make it sound better so.
I do think m4 and powerhouse weapons should not be craftable but can only be obtained through crate boxes and with limited number of them available as well as ammo.
Game like this should have the strongest weapon be the thing people want to find and fight over as well as be a game changer to those who have it as well as a burden.
The other day I added a bow and arrow and people made threads and posts about how the game is ruined and they wont be playing it. The patch had a bug in it where you could destroy walls with the bow and we fixed it a few hours later.
We're currently in the middle of developing the game and bringing it out of an alpha state. We're going to release patches that have bugs. We're going to release patches that make the game unbalanced. You guys are the alpha testers. There's no sense in creating threads and saying stuff like the game is amateur and you wont play the game and it's boring with no satisfaction in it. You could have just mentioned that it was pretty hard for new players and I could have written a much shorter response.
The fact that it's in the middle of development is also why you're seeing the more low-tech items being added. The real goal is to have a gradient of 'firepower' up until the nearly impossible-to-build/obtain M4's and assault rifles. We're also in the middle of creating a new level where everything is far more spread out, and you can get established before having to defend yourself or run from another player. These things take time, however.
I'm not going to remove the guns so I can add them back in a few weeks when there is more of a gradient. You're currently testing and playing something that is very actively in development so there are going to be times when things break and things are unbalanced and gameplay mechanics don't work well; It's not a complete product, don't let some bad experiences represent the final vision for the game!
P.s. there are some youtube series on how to get started with nothing in rust, you could check those out and you might have better luck next time.
