Like you, we started Rust playing on the Official/Community servers and just like you, we saw they were full of hackers and admins who didn't seem to care about it. The Official servers were even worse, being absent of any Admins with Hackers ruining the servers. Racist, immature general chat and unhelpful trolls. Basically, the most Toxic environment you could imagine to try and learn to play a game that I would consider, pretty hard core. When you fuck up in Rust, you PAY for it and you pay dearly. Rust is awesome and our server makes it even better!
Gotham is for new and veteran players alike - we try to provide a server that is fun and engaging with daily events (and sweet prizes) Cheaters, spammers and griefers are dealt with quickly. If you're looking for a new, actively growing and mature community, then your search is over. Our Admins are fair, active and helpful toward new players. All of our admins are 'non-playing' so there is no admin abuse. We aren't a gaming clan and we don't sell 'donation packages' (although we do take donations) and we are keeping the riff-raff out of the server.

Hands down the best rust server I've ever played on - and I've played hundreds of hours...
We average about 30 people online nightly.
We have mostly friendly player.
Hackers are dealt with quickly.
There was a 25 game giveaway this weekend and we topped 40 players!
There is also a big Rock Fighting Arena we have tournaments in and a new "Arkham Asylum" we let about 30 players loose in with rocks one time and shotguns the next time - good times!

Server is averaging 35+ people at night, sometimes over 40. The arena and Arkham Asylum events are crazy fun and always have an amazing turn out. Thanks guys.
We're about to start up an event at "Arkham" The Joker is leading a riot and the prisoners are dangerously close to breaking free! (You're the criminals) the have raided the armory and are considered armed and dangerous!
