• Valve Anti-Cheat still NOT enabled

Is there an ETA when VAC will be enabled? Even DayZ standalone (which is also a Early Access game) has it enabled now. I'm noticing a lot of hacks lately. It would be nice to give some priority to this.
VAC isn't a given. Several multiplayer games sold on Steam do not have VAC.
These are suppose to be protected by VAC. All servers say "This server is protected by VAC". For the OP, Rust doesn't determine how VAC works or when it works. That is for Valve to deal with I think. They probably need to update it with the latest hacks to give Rust more protection.

There are many people still using Cheat Engine on rust which should alert VAC. Fortunately/Unfortunately VAC is delayed to prevent the hacks from being patch immediately, thus achieving a higher ban rate.
VAC modules do not load for this game. VAC is not enabled. The logo is probably a placeholder for future implementation or, what could be much more probable, a deterrent for potential cheaters. People are able to use CE to get coordinates, teleport, and a few others things. On any other VAC protected game this would get you banned almost right away. When detecting private hack websites, they want maximum detection rates.
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1333865
well fuck, now my post up top looks stupid. Here's my secondary explanation then. How VAC works (or used to work, or how Valve explains it works) is that it bans on a delay. A hacker would try the latest hack "that bypasses VAC" and gets detected. Well, that ban doesn't happen immediately. This gives the hacker time to think the hack truly bypasses VAC and spread it around to his friends who also want to hack, who then also get detected. Or, the ahcker has time to try other hacks that may or may not truly bypass VAC, so when the ban happens, the hacker is unsure which tool got him VAC'd in the first place. This delay is typically 2 weeks to a month, but it's not uncommon for it to be longer. Non-Valve developers can also choose for VAC bans to happen immediately, google "Modern Warfare 2 fastfiles vac". What I'm thinking is happening is 0 bans have yet to be handed out for hacking, and since there's no VAC bans, Steam is purposely not displaying the VAC label to make hackers think VAC has not yet actually been enabled. Then again, Garry's had GMOD servers warn players that VAC was turned on when it didn't actually do anything before (sometime during Gmod 10 or 11), this may be Garry simply intentionally not flipping the VAC switch on. tl;dr possible causes: garry intentionally not flipping official switch or VAC label not showing up until first delayed VAC ban is applied, eta 2 weeks-a month.
