• Possibility that rust will come out to mobile devices?
    18 replies, posted
So, as we all know rust is a unity based game. Since unity is widely used on mobile devices, is there a possibility that rust may end up being spread to them? I mean, while I may not be sure of what language rust is coded in, I am pretty sure that unity allows you to basically transfer coding to work for certain platforms. What do you guys think? Also, please don't post crap like "It wont work" or "Cant be done" or anything off topic, trying to be serious about this. Edit: Probably should have used the search button, though I have been on these forums for the passed few months and never have seen a post about spreading to mobile devices, hence why I made this. If there already is a post, feel free to lock/close this.
not sure mobile devices would be able to handle the dodgy shadows like, would be cool if it were playable on an ipad or something like that.
This most likely wouldn't happen, there's people who have performance issues on their computers as it stands. This game on a mobile device would be extremely demanding.

Edit: Also, your comment falls under what I asked people not to do which would be not to say things such as "It wont work" or "Can't be done" and the like.
I never said it wouldn't work, or that it couldn't be done. What I said was, it's unlikely to happen. Because as stated, the game is very demanding, and as of now (Alpha) I don't see it coming to mobile. You want to be serious, I gave you a 100% serious answer.
cant be done.
i agree its very unlikely, but you never know with mobile advancements
i agree its very unlikely, but you never know with mobile advancements
Considering the 5s came out with the first 64 bit processor in a phone, and can pretty much match the speed of a PC, I'm sure phones will be able to do a whole lot more soon.
My computer can barely run it
The only thing i have with this is that however possible a phone would be able to run it, it wouldn't be able to actually play it, the servers you connect to are designed for computers, not designed to connect to cell towers. Sure Wifi you might think, but the server response time would be horrible enough trying to send out the same amount of data it sends to its PC/laptop users. A phone just can't handle that kind of capacity
That's why you make mobile specific servers.
It's just a lot more work in an area that would not be profitable, I just don't think the devs would consider that to be a priority for a LONG time
Why would you ask a question, and then be completely biased, and have the attitude that "IT WILL/SHOULD HAPPEN". There's no point in asking for our feedback if all you're going to do is argue, or counteract our statements.
can't be done. Op, just go :suicide:
Don't see the point of it. Personnaly, I wouldn't have "good" time even on console! I think this game is meant to be played on PC with a nice mouse and keyboard; not touching on a screen. Once I tried to play minecraft on Ipad, oh gosh don't even get me started on that :D PC FTW! Cheers!
That's like the worst idea ever, you obviously don't have the game, you haven't watched stream OR you are very dumb.
This will not happen. the game will eventually go out on steam. it said this when i bought it :D or somewhere else, but it was posted by garry

No one needs to pay £800 for a phone with a Finger scanner which numerous other phones could do just as well (And more securely). I'd like to see it happen who knows but it won't happen off the bat.
Would be an incredible feat as mobile devices require insane optimization, especially at a draw call level, which is feasible for stuff like games that have small, closed levels... huge sandboxes, not so much
