Server setup, no .exe file being downloaded?

Hello,

I wanted to create rust server. I followed the instructions here: [url]https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Rust[/url]

I downloaded steamcmd.exe, logged in with anonymous successfully, then I type in[B] app_update 258550[/B] and all it says is[I] downloading 0/9[/I] and next line it tells me success.
Afterwards, I type in [B]app_update 258550[/B] validate and then it gives me a line saying,[I] validating 0/0... success "app already up to date".[/I]

Success?! Sounds good! But when I check the folders, no .exe file nor any server files were downloaded. The path ..\Downloads\steamcmd\steamapps\common\rust_dedicated\ with folders was created, but it just contains a text file called wrong_branch.txt

I tried on my actual server, on my local computer and a friend tried it as well, always same result.

What am I doing wrong?

I read all the server wikis already, it really is suppose to be a 3 step setup, but no where does it say what to do if the server files are not being downloaded. That's why I am asking. Not even google gave me an answer.

Edit: I also noticed my thread was suppose to be posted in the server forum, not sure why I ended up here.

I guess you are right, because even now, I can't see any threads on top of this forum that mention anything about beta access only for server providers. All I see is FAQ thread, (nothing in there apart from people talking about hosting private servers with friends), section rules thread and purchase problem thread.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

Strange enough there are so many privately hosted servers around, even here in these forums people publicly say they are privately hosted. Guess they all use the leaked torrent server files, which seems to be a very popular file at the moment on torrent sites.
