• More Robust Admin Tools Required!

Hello fellow Rust players, I'm writing this out of frustration. Administrating a Rust server is harder than my System Administrator career. We need logs and more robust tools to monitor suspicious activity. Currently we have to hand out bans based on word of mouth or general feel. I see a lot of posts about abusive admins banning them for no reason, and I feel for both sides. There is no way to get 100% proof of hacking, and currently, admins on servers are the only line of defense between legitimate players and hackers. I feel the need to protect the players on my server, and when I see different groups of players complaining about the same guy whether it's duping/aimbotting, I have become conflicted with what to do. Stopping the hackers from a Dev perspective is undoubtedly complicated. Would it not be a simple solution in the interim to provide server admins with logs/inventory checking capabilities? Perhaps some other people here have other suggestions as to what tools would be helpful, or ways that they have found effective at dealing with suspected hackers? Thanks.
Allow admins to see who placed each and every object and when preferably.
That would be really great. If it could also show exchange of ownership of an item as it passes from player to player, that would be even better.
I agree 100% percent, and I am glad I am not the only one. With duping, DDoS, and hackers in abundance, the admins have very minimal tools at their disposal. I'd honestly consider moderating this server far more difficult than my actual job as well. I'm contemplating boosting the admin staff further just because there are constant problems due to the lack of safeguards implemented at this time. I'm only speaking on behalf of what I've seen in my server, but here is a list of things I believe the admins require as soon as possible. I do realize that this game is in Alpha and there are many features to come. I, like many of you, am just voicing my opinion on what I would like to see happen. LOGS: The game logs are minimal from the in-game interface, and there really isn't anything generated in the server client either. We need something to monitor inventories and what commands are being used. It might not catch everything, but it could help limit duper abuse, admin abuse, settle disputes about severe trolling, and many problems. It is a system that every other game I've modded has had. GAG/MUTE: Obviously looting and pillaging can get under the skin of the loser. When people get a bit too heated, it would be nice to be able to mute them while they calm down a bit. The game has developed a very trolly culture, and it would be nice to curb that a bit without giving everyone the boot. ADMIN DESTRUCTION TOOL: The Uber Hatchet does not cut it, and there should be an admin tool that can destroy ANYTHING that has been placed. We've had many instances where we've had dupers make giant towers, and we cannot get rid of them because not all player-made structures are destructible. We've had to wipe a few times because it got so bad, and we've lost people who are angry that their legitimate buildings have been destroyed. Overall, we just need a more robust system. There is no way to prove or disprove duping at this moment without being there, which can be very difficult in rust. I don't want to make the mistake of banning people with only the proof of word of mouth, but I don't want my server running rampant with flamers and dupers. Running a server is very difficult right now, and I've considered shutting mine down until a more official release because it is currently more of a hassle than it is entertaining. Along with removing guns and making the game more team and survival based, I really hope these tools come into play soon. I have high hopes for this game and our server has been well populated even through the DDoS attacks and these problems, I'd really hate to give up that base of core players because the game is unplayable.
If admins had the ability to spectate other players, it would make things a hell of a lot easier for us.
I have to agree with igbL Gaming and the above, we need more to properly run a server. I find it sad that the newest hacks provide players with more power than than the admins. The newest hack can Draw Loot (you can see whats in a storage chest or players inventory) and the ability to draw players (see player names on screen without hovering over them). It's hard enough to run a server, let alone do so with limited tools.
I've rarely gotten to actually play, because my time is dedicated to clearing up messes. The new hacks actually do make for better admins tools. If I wasn't worried about any type of penalty, I'd probably use it myself just so I could have a handle on the server. There is no effective way to run the servers right now, especially when some of the players have better tools at your disposal than you do.

It is a joke currently. It's a fun game, but being an admin on the servers currently is a lot more hassle than it is worth.
