Shelves. It would be nice to have those in the game so that I can put storage bags on shelves.

Isn't the point of the storage bags to be sneaky and hide your stuff? Also, this isn't minecraft. you're surviving. there are no decorations.

I mean, If you could make it and you wanted to, It's pretty realistic, Look at minecraft even, It's a survival game but there are still cool looking things you can get if you want to use materials on them

It was supposed to be a joke, he said "It's not Minceraft, it's survival" which I found ironic because survival is exactly what minecraft is.

to be fair, besides pvp servers, minecraft isn't really survival after the first 15 minutes
It might not be survival in the most extreme sense of the word but there are still dangers such as starving and death by the elements so it is survival, especially if you're playing the permadeath mode.

Well if you want an open-world, survival-based game with crafting abilities and uniqueness, let people craft aesthetics. Who cares? It isn't hurting you at all. It lets the player feel even more immersed in the game and thus provides a better experience.
