Availability of guns, and what the future holds for Rust.

I'm sure you're all sick of seeing forum posts about how guns are too easy to obtain, blah blah blah. We get it, you don't like people shooting you on sight. But your argument is just making you look bad, because if guns are so easy to get, why don't you have one? Anyways, this post isn't about that, it's about WHY guns are so easy to obtain, and some interesting observations I've made about them.
First of, let me start by explaining that this game is still in it's Alpha stage, meaning it's far from the finished product. When Rust comes out as a full game in the future, it will be drastically different (ex. Minecraft). What we are doing in this stage of production is testing the game and making sure everything works as intended, providing positive and negative feedback on game mechanics, and giving the developers ideas that may or may not be implemented. Now let's take a closer look at one of these functions, "making sure everything works as intended".
At this stage there are only a few guns available in game, the Hand Cannon, Pipe Shotgun, 9mm, P250, Shotgun, M4, MP5A4 and Hunting Rifle. 8 weapons, all with varying functions. It would be logical that one would first obtain a Hand Cannon or Pipe Shotgun, then work their way up to the higher tier weapons, and you're right, it should work that way, but the problem is a tier system means players would have to dedicate some time in the game to even obtain the more powerful weapons. At the current stage, the developers want as many people as possible to get the guns, as quickly as possible, without ruining the integrity of the game. Why? Because we are making sure everything works as intended. Not only are we testing the guns themselves to make sure they fire correctly, have the right amount of sway, the right reload times, etc., we are also testing out the crafting and research systems, with the higher tier guns taking more metal and being harder to obtain. Sure there needs to be better balance on gun availability, but at the moment the developers just want to be sure the guns work.
Now on to the future part of this post. Have you ever noticed that everything takes Low Quality Metal to make? It's hard to believe that a functioning M4 could be made with a few pieces of scrap metal. I believe this phenomenon is present because the developers intend to introduce High Quality Metal, and maybe even Medium Quality Metal, even though it's a mouthful to say. Each new tier of metal would require a sum of it's previous tier plus some other materials, and maybe even a higher tier workbench. Each tier of metal would be required to produce higher tier weapons, thus making M4s and the like a lot more difficult to produce in mass quantities. There may even be new weapons to be introduced to fill in tiers, such as a double barrel shotgun (Get to work on that Facepunch), or even revolvers. The game still has a long way to go, so you may be pleasantly surprised at what routes they take on the game.
I would also like to mention the playable map in Rust is much smaller than 16km x 16km. While the island you play on is indeed that large, outside the playable area there are only trees and hills, no rocks, no towns, no resource spawns, which is why no one goes out there. It is my opinion that in the future certain parts of the island will hold more valuable loot, creating a sort of pioneer effect. You will start out in the easy area, where looters and bandits are common, but loot and resources are lower quality. As you work your way out of the common area, you will find higher quality wood and metal, better loot, and more powerful, yet more diplomatic enemies. in the highest tier area there will be war going on over control of resources, as factions vie to control the rare high quality areas. While not impossible to live on your own in this kind of environment, it would be encouraged that you join a group for protection, and hell, you might even end up leading one of the factions at war for resources.
The main point of this post is to quell those who keep complaining about it. You paid to be a tester, and that's what you are doing. Even if you die a thousand times, that's what you paid to do. This game has endless ways to play it, you just need to find a way that works for you. /endrant
I also want to know why backpacks dont drop when you die. Its basic things like this that make this a glorified Steam tech demo. Although its not as crappy as DayZ which is a joke

Also why dont pillars snap to corners when Two foundations are place side by side?
How about making sure the basics work before sticking up for guns and stupid PVP crap
