OK guys i just found this out tonight. Sorry if I sound like a noob, but I figured how to fix the lag in the new Rust Update. Just set Rust to full screen and set the resolution down until you find the ideal lag to graphic ratio for your fine self. Thanks!
[B][I][U]EDIT:[/U][/I][/B] The lowest you can go is 1024 x 600, for a playable screen, at least that's the lowest I can go and I have a 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor.

Your fix is to turn down a setting (that doesn't even make the largest difference) until everything is smooth?
