Moving this to the correct forum :)
Hi All,
So firstly, a bit about me. I'm a professional web developer working in Newcastle upon Tyne (uk). I work primarily with JavaScript so decided to set up a project to work on in my spare time.
So what is it?
BaseBuilder is a tool designed to help avid Rust players conceptualise a base design they have in their head. Its in its early days of course and I have a large set of requirements still to meet. I will share each development goal in a later post.
Where is it?
It's current hosted here - http://jvickers.co.uk/basebuilder - please take a look and see what you think of the progress so far. It's best to view in chrome at the moment, it does work in firefox but not as smoothly.
How can you help?
I have set up a bug tracking account at: https://basebuilder.fogbugz.com/ so if any of you wish to aid in the development of this tool please do. Simply open the link - click Enter a New Case under the TASKS heading and fill in the detail of your bug - the more detail the better :)
I'll be hard at work over this coming weekend finalising the development approach and refactoring some of the current behind the scenes logic.
Hope you like the progress so far and again - any bugs you wish to add will be greatly appreciated.
Jonathan

They should be in place sometime over the weekend :) At the same time you'll also be able to undo previous actions.
Simply awesome man, great job. Althought you can do the same thing in game at free building servers like http://rusthelper.com/server/ but this is faster and with isometric vision.

Thanks. I was aware of that, as I said - its a bit of a project for me :) Once complete I can port it to the appstore for use on the ipad - a free app of course :)

looking forward to those other tools on the weekend
This is a nice tool! Good job iGeordie!

Update 0.1.4 (15-03-2014)
Door ways have been added :)
Fixed a few minor issues with wall placement and pillars being able to added in the middle of them.
Added plank indicator to the resources panel.
Next stop - windows and stairs
Awesome tool iGeordie! I will definately mention this in an upcoming Rust video of mine :)
Thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it! A mention would be amazing :)

Thank you very much, i like it!
I understand that all other building parts will be added. But one suggestion, maybe add one, ot two, three trees from game, so when i practice build my base, my base will not feel lonely:) And possibility to save, load, or give link with build ed home, maybe also do nice screenshot from site (with your logo, watermark!) :)
Awesome project man! I was thinking about making something like this in a standalone Java app, but you've taken the cake man. I'm not even gonna bother anymore, I'd just feel like I was copying you lol. This is A+ work dude.

Save, load and share functionality is in the pipeline - share so people can view but not edit :)
I'll think about the trees :) I will add a surrounding background image with mountains etc at some point but it isn't a priority at the moment.
Great idea regarding the screen shot - working on this now... should have it up in the next 30 mins :)
Thanks for the feedback, Jonathan.

Screenshot tool has been added. Unfortunately you're required enable popups to get the resultant screenshot.
[editline]15th March 2014[/editline]
A further edit - I've managed to make the screenshot tool a little more friendly. Let me know if you have any issues :)
nicely done Geordie
Nice tool - couldn't see how to remove mistakes though, an undo button would be great!
great job! what did you use to code it?
[editline]15th March 2014[/editline]
bug: wood should be 10X number of planks
Thanks.
JavaScript and WebGL. Ahh whoops, think I inadvertently broke that early on :p fixing it now.

done :)

Update 0.2 (16-03-2014)
Undo functionality has been added.
Camera starts in a better position.
Bug Fix - Camera can no longer go below the surface.
I'm still on with the stairs object, the undo functionality took longer than originally expected.
I'm going to look to add a filter in so you can disable visibility and interactivity on certain layers. Meaning you can see exactly whats happening on each level once you've closed the building off.
