Can anyone tell me how to get started with mod creation?

Ok so I am eficent in C++, but have never modded a game before.
Will anyone be so kind to help me get started, some resources, books/tutorials, Links and so on would be great.
Also if there are some specific thing/ cosepts I need to know I appreciate the info.
I know the devs allow this because of the Mod Category in the server list so lets get bussy.
