I honestly think this would be the best thing to put into the next release, example, you join xx clan you can see there names in green? i think this feature would be the most important one you could add right now and most needed, any idea when this would be added?
It won't be. That's exactly what Garry has been saying he doesn't want since day one.
Maybe Rust isn't the right game for you.
Because I'm predicting this will be added never. Or at least not until the devs completely change their minds about one of the fundamental design goals of Rust.
This is from the official Facepunch blog:

then they should at least add something to define a player, i know who my friends are when i see them in real life, but in rust, i have no clue who anyone is...
That's the point. You're not supposed to know/trust anyone. As stated above, maybe this isn't the game for you.
Did you actually read what I posted? It explains why they don't want you to have that.
Rust isn't about making you safe. Rust is about challenging you with survival and giving you the tools you need. Some of those tools aren't working or even in the game yet, because it's not finished.

What about the proposed plans of character customization? Wouldn't that make it easier to identify people? Would you be against that since it decreases the likelihood of friends shooting each other accidentally? You keep spamming that statement by Garry, but a concept like freedom runs deeper than trivialized way you are portraying it.
Every single element of a game's design constrains freedom in some way, including lockable doors, health, gravity. I'm not necessarily for a clan system, but part of the freedom that Garry aluded to pertained to the ability of people to organize to combat common threats. I think that organizational tools are what's being requested here and in similar posts.
Yes, character customization will bring easier identification. Dyed/more clothing will bring easier identification. This is okay.
A friends list to make sure that your buddy's names float over their heads in big green letters at long range so you don't friendly-fire them? That runs counter to Rust.

I agree with you there.

I agree, but a friends list would be nice. Why do I have to add people to steam? Valve didn't develop RUST.
The other side of this is... secret handshake? They plan to invent 31-flavors of handshake, really? If the devs DO want players to be able to identify each-other, they better do better than that, and i really don't want to hear a bunch of white-knight-cocksucking-fanboisms in response.
