Me and my fellas have been playing on a "Rust essentials/ Airdrop+" server. Airdrops are hella rare because there's a 20 player threshold, and there's generally no more than 10-15 players. We need to find explosives for c4 somehow, but as far as we know, explosives only spawn from airdrops. We've looked at two different wikis; one claims that explosives spawn from these "zombie animals," and another claims they don't. Thusfar, after killing roughly 150 animals, we still haven't found explosives. Does anyone know how to get some?
after killing 1000+ red animals (and the zombies before them) i can say that explosives either do not drop from them or they are SUPER DUPER rare drops.

As far as I know explosives are exclusive airdrop stuff.
I also never found any explosive at any other place.
But there's a tiny chance for a C4 drop from mutants and boxes at least.
I have found c4 on zombies twice. As for the new mutants I'm not too sure.

This is true. I believe oxide mod will allow server admins to change drop tables (to enable explosives on mutant animals) but in a vanilla rust setup explosives ONLY drop from airdrops. C4 itself will drop on mutant animals though.
