• Female character option

Will there ever be a female character option? My wife will not play this game for that reason alone (That's exactly what she told me). I am assuming that the game is loosing a portion of female player base due to this....And this is not becasue I want nude chicks in the game (I know someone will try to say that). Thoughts?
I doubt adding female characters to the game is a high priority for Facepunch right now. Right now the character models have no impact on gameplay whatsoever so you should tell your wife to stop being foolish.

+1 Female characters My wife plays Rust too and she has a ding dong, it's weird.
Yeah shouldn't be a priority because it has no impact on the game, just like what michaelrule4 said.
My gf wanted to play Rust but is waiting for the female models.
This is so dumb. Female player models do not need to be added to game. If a girl doesn't want to play a game just because there is no female character then that is her issue and she obviously does not value the game for its content rather then its looks. Also the comment about "My wife has a ding dong and it's weird", well then turn the censor on? Really this game isn't a porno.
Censor.nudity false
Pointless. 99% of the time it will be used by pervy dudes rather than actual women.
Game launches with a white male model, guys defend it telling everyone it's no big deal. If they had made the character a black woman, this forum would be full of people asking for new models. A tiny bit of choice when starting needs to be added. Just the basics. male/female and some skin color.
It's more of a matter of principle to my wife. She appreciates and plays MANY games, (even with no female protaganist). Based off how many other games there are, with both gender choices available, her motivation to play Rust is less-so, because of being male-only. It isn't foolish, it's her preference, so if it came about that Facepunch ever chose to add female models, that would be a plus to the female player base. Hell, it would be to the male player base too, lol.
theres this thing called a "search bar" :v:
god women are dumb.

For now I hope they work on finishing the game and not about silly character skins.
god women are dumb.
How rude. I'm sure you never had a girlfriend.
How rude. I'm sure you never had a girlfriend.
We meet again...
I would love o run on the naked fields as a chick. But surely is no priority now. Maybe in the end.
We meet again...
It's enough if you keep saying that on Steam.
This coming from someone who likes to imagine dragons having sex.
So what if he does? I imagine cows 'doing it' in green fields.
Well this thread derailed pretty quickly. At this stage of the game, the character model shouldn't matter. We're testing game mechanics. It'll be prettied up later. This is the same reason why everything gives you chicken breast at the moment. It's functional, not logical. So yeah, in the future there's a high likelihood of a female model, but right now that's rather trivial.
I blame dagger
but omg girls feel so uncomfortable playing male characters :words:
That's a matter of the human race itself. But it's enough for me to color my armor. Everyone wants to color their own armor.

Like Garry once said, the priority right now is to create a stable base so they can build upon that. In order to have a stable base they need to focus on bug fixing, stability fixes and anti-cheat methods. Adding something as silly as female player models just because some girlfriends/wifes want to play the game is not really worth the trouble to create a model for it with animations.
Btw, do you think we ever will have a discussion like that in Space Engineers? :v:
Right now we just go for the "You can't really see if its a male or female in the suit" approach, seems to keep the happy for now.
