Removed from the zombie game , simply consider unacceptable !
In advertising the game to compare it to DayZ, 7 Days to die and minecraft which incidentally also has a zombie .. and then just remove them from the game ! ? This is not to say the true test . I am sure that I will be supported by many.
•••I can not say for sure .. but it seems the developers want to remove all the fiction of the game and make it more believable. Buying a game I honestly say this not count on . I do not want to see this game only as craft - thriller.
•••Suggest to defend the right of zombies , stay on the island of rust!!!
zombies are boring and annoying and contribute nothing to the game -- all they are is something to distribute blue prints and metal ramps besides chests

They can finish, make it more interesting .. And not stupid delete
I think they should at least give server admins the option of having them or not.
Would be far more interesting to see the zombie aspect expanded on. Make them form herds and approach areas where large amounts of gunfire. They should surround houses and be an actual threat. They should loot you and distribute your items if you die, as if they were tearing off body parts. People could go on zombie hunting parties to take out large packs, which are faster and become more frenzied as the population in any given area increases past a set threshold.
Wasn't it stated zombies were just a placeholder when the game was first announced?
And no, they should be removed. They add nothing to the game except a means of handing out unnecessary blueprints, and they are a cliche stock enemy.
I would much rather Rust evolve in a unique direction other than "Failed Zombie MMO Number Three".
No point in zombies.
Garry Says:
"Helk was meant to remove Zombies before we released on Steam. That never happened. The sooner we remove them the less people will miss them.
We don’t know whether we’re actually going to have to replace them further down the line. It’s not something we want to rush into. Reskinning them so they’re ‘mutants’ instead of ‘zombies’ goes against the whole point of removing them in the first place (which is: we’re not a dayz clone anymore)."

Read the sentence you posted. No where does it say or imply zombies.....
"Rust is a survival game created by Facepunch Studios. Inspired by games like DayZ, Minecraft and Stalker – Rust aims to create a hostile environment in which emergent gameplay can flourish."
No where does it say "Rust is a zombie survival game and a copy of DayZ and Minecraft...."
Also further down it says.....
The aim of the game is to survive. To do this the player should gather resources. Hitting a tree with a rock will give you wood, hitting a rock with a rock will give you rock and ore. You can then craft a hatchet from the wood and rock, allowing you to gather faster. You can go out and hunt a variety of wildlife such as boars, chickens, rabbits, bears, wolves and deer. Once you have killed an animal you can butcher it to gather its meat and skin. You can craft a fire using wood and cook the meat inside the fire. Then you can eat.
You face two major dangers in game.
Rust is a multiplayer game, so there will be other players trying to survive in the same way that you are. Unfortunately for you they can find you, kill you and take your stuff. Fortunately for you – you can kill them and take their stuff. Or maybe you can make friends and help each other survive. Rust’s world is harsh – so you might need to make friends to survive.
The environment is not kind. Bears and wolves will chase and kill you. Falling from a height will kill you. Being exposed to radiation for an extended period will kill you. Starving will kill you. Being cold will kill you.
Hmm.... I don't see zombies.

Where does he mention zombies?
If you read any of his blogs, Garry loves the social aspects of DayZ. The not knowing what the other player is going to do next aspect. That is what he is trying to take from DayZ, not zombies.
And to be frank, the zombies are not and never were a selling point of DayZ. They are barely even relevant to the point the game doesn't even deserve to be called "DayZ".

Yes, everything in DayZ is zombies. You are a zombie, you eat zombie, you drink zombie and you certainly don't explore the map in an attempt to find guns and other items necessary for survival.

How is that contradictory? It's INSPIRED BY GAMES LIKE, not "we are this game only cloned with a few changed features" anymore...
Inspired by means to be awed by, or amazed by to the point of wanting to replicate to a certain degree. Musicians are inspired by other musicians. Does that make them all the same? No. Each one changes their playstyle to fit what they like producing.
Think you need to learn what contradictions are before you slug it around as such.
Garry doesnt want to rain on Dean Halls market either.
Zombies were a minor part to this game, and were more inspired from the Creepers of minecraft than traditional zombies.
If they are removed, they should be replace by AI bandits or raiders.

or at least some kind of mutants
Because I think rust is an post nuclear scenario where survivors are living on the only island where humans are able to live

but if there are no humans anywhere else then where do the airdrops come from?
also theres been art posted of mutant killer rabbits and whatnot so i'm guessing the zombies will be replaced with s.t.a.l.k.e.r styled mutant animals

Ya I forgot about the airdrops
U just destroyed my theory :'(

lol my guess is some remnant of the old world survived and they are undergoing a massive operation to seed any inhabited areas with resources to bring the human population back up and start rebuilding the world
Someone should start a thread about backstory theories for rust :O
