The fact that rust in possibly the first game to put in "Sleepers" the ability to have your character always inside the game physically and when you log out the character lays down and is asleep is one of the features that brought me here and a major reason why i love and play rust actively. The idea i wish to have included into the game is of a similar nature. The ability for a player to pick up sleeping characters if the sleeping character is actually asleep. Perhaps the character would go inside of the abductors inventory or an animation would occur where the character is lifted upon the abductor's shoulder / shoulder(s), or perhaps carried in the arms. in light of this obviously there would have to be the ability to place the carried character where the carrier desiers to place him or her.
Could you expand farther on why this would something beneficial to the game beyond just another way to further grief an offline player? Aside from your friends trying to hide you while a raid is going down on your group's base, I just can't foresee anything but further trolling stemming from it and it ultimately being a complete waste of time for the dev's when there's so many other pressing issues extending to the next few months out.
realism ultimately is why. Realisticly when you raid a base there is more then the two options of 1.kill loot 2. leave the sleeper be. There should also be the third option: 3. Take the sleeper captive. Thats the jist of the idea. I would also like to note that i am not putting this idea out there as a "lets go way deeper" type of influence. this is more of a simple "i like the sleepers idea and here is what just poped into my head out of the blue"
There are points where realism makes the game not fun and a center of attention to trolls.
^ Agreed.
There are points where realism makes the game not fun and a center of attention to trolls.
I can see how that can be the case with this if not implimented correctly.
No thanks.
Ok, so in regard to realism.. You use 26 charges of C4 to break into a groups base, find sleepers.. somehow still "sleeping" after demolishing 13 metal doors of their base, and want the ability to move them.. ..because it'd be more realistic.. I seriously must be missing something in the logic here.
I can see how that can be the case with this if not implimented correctly.
Define "correctly" ... What would be the correct way to carry a sleepers body around? Over the shoulder? Dragging? Cradled in arms? Via helicopter? This just adds more more value to the game for trolls.
This sounds awful. Peaking their pack before killing them would be a nice addition. This would minimize offline grief while still allowing the killer, or in this case thief, to walk away knowing they didn't just completely fuck you over for some wood you had in your corpse. note: You can still kill them if you want, you just also have to option to loot before deciding to killing.
And what would the troll try to have happen here? If the person doesnt want to be where said troll takes them to, would suicide be too far fetched of an idea? In all likelihood, seeing as how your base was just blown into, you would most likely be dead as is.. Or perhaps you have some teammates online helping fend off the attack, and seeing as how 'you' are still sleeping, yet behind say.. one door? Perhaps your buddies drag you to a safer place? I can see some use for this.. even if its just to drag that dummy out of the way of you placing a wall or door.. or just want to kick him out. Something like this isnt just restricted to trolling on while on the attack.
I imagine people waking up left and right walled into a one square metal room. There are already enough ways to annoy people I would say.
what about turning you sleeper into a defensive npc? so they dont leave your house but will shoot anyone who breaks in?
what about turning you sleeper into a defensive npc? so they dont leave your house but will shoot anyone who breaks in?
that would be an issue because it would basically be aim bot. Its a good idea but a bad one as well. but maybe just maybe if they code this right it can work. But i dont think they will add that in. I like it but there are cons to that 2. What if you friend logs in and your guy is in "defense" mode and you end up killing your friend?
Maybe if your sleeper 'hears' a C4 blast, your sleeper turns into the 'fast red zombie', attacking anyone nearby. In terms of realism, it isn't far from how my wife acts if she is rudely woken up.

Maybe if they implement a party or a buddy system into the game, which could give access to multiple options between the group. (meaning only people in your party could move your sleeping body.) I find that this would avoid trolls or greifers Just an idea :/

I really like this idea, I really can't see why so many people dislike it so much. People are saying it puts trolls at the center of attention. Maybe it does a bit, but Rust is supposed to be based in a harsh world. Possibly comparable to the world of Fallout where people do many things out of madness. In my opinion this adds a fun element to getting raided. "Where am I going to find myself when I wake up?" It generates interesting stories. If someone does wake up in a metal room, they can type in chat and see if the owner is online, if they aren't they can commit suicide, simple. You could even get your friends to try and break you out of the base for fun. Since you can commit suicide it only adds experiences.
