I'm not exactly sure why this is happening to me and alot of others, but whenever I start up the game, it's fine, but as soon as I join a server, it crashes? and on different occasions aswell. Usually for me it crashes on "Loading Radtowns" or other times it can be "Loading Terrain Raycast" then crashes with the error report "The game has crashed" blah gives me a date code "2015-5-17_25655" and such and it tells me to send to the developer! I think I have a semi understanding why because I spent like 3 hours googling and researching, usually happens to 32bit computers, like the core thingy idk, and people with bad ram or something. I have 4gb (2.99) usable it says in My Comp but is that enough? Some people say I need a 64bit thing so I can get more ram but I used to be able to play it after the number 60 update?? Please help I really want to play this game. ;/ thanks!
Could you actually post what the error logs are? Open them up and paste them into pastebin, and then link it here. Rather than take three hours making wild guesses, the logs should show exactly what causes Rust to crash. Sometimes, it's not spelled out clearly or the reason is given but how to fix it is not clear, but the logs are a lot more reliable than random guessing.
However, right now, players on 32-bit systems with 4GB of RAM tend to have a hard time with Rust in its current state; the game has definite performance issues. This isn't to say you should just shut up and go away, nothing of the sort, just that this seems to be a common issue for 32bit/4GB players lately. The game's in development, so I imagine things will improve over time.
I suspect the memory's the problem, but pasting the logs will let us confirm the issue instead of taking guesses.

Okay, did i do it right?? file:///C:/Program%20Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Rust/2015-05-16_203044/
I have about 17 of crash reports.
what's pastebin?
Would it have hurt to try pastebin.com or, oh, search for it?
Open up the log files in the folder with the most recent time and date stamp, and copy-paste their contents into a pastebin document, submit it, and then take the link it gives you and paste it here.

nah mate you need to open up the log with Notepad then copy all the text and paste it here. Just go to the folder you posted then right click and choose note pad to open the log.

What do you mean "open up the log with notepad"????!??!?!
What do you mean "open up the log with notepad"????!??!?!
go into the folder with the error logs
right click on the latest error log
select Open With
Choose Note Pad
GrymThor means actually go into the "2015-05-16_203044" folder, don't just right-click on the folder itself. It contains log files, which are text files of the error output from Rust when it crashes.
Those log files are what we care about.
Once you have one open in front of you in Notepad, click the edit menu and then Select All. Then click edit again, and then Copy. Then open pastebin.com in your browser, click in the box labeled "new paste" right in the middle of the screen, and hit Ctrl+V on your keyboard. This should put the log into the box on the screen. Hit submit, and it will give you a webpage address for your new paste.
Give us that webpage address in this thread so we can read the log that you pasted.

Also do you want all of them or just 1?? I have about 24 of them.
Those are the ones, thank you. You don't need to paste them all.

Look what I found.
The minimum specs for Rust are 4GB of RAM, but right now, it's got some significant performance issues, and people on 32-bit machines with 4GB of RAM are having this exact problem fairly frequently right now. The performance issues should be mostly fixed in time, but until then, you're in a tough spot if turning things down in the F2 menu doesn't help you.
The more permanent solution is to get a new computer, as your machine seems to be about five years old and is showing its age. You could probably get away with upgrading your machine to 8GB of RAM and reinstalling Windows to get a 64-bit install (in order to use more than 4GB of RAM), and that could probably be done without being too difficult or expensive, but I think a new machine would be better if you can afford it. Remember, though, that Rust's performance issues are causing even fairly beastly machines to have substandard performance in-game, so even if you do spend money to upgrade or replace your computer, the game still has problems of its own right now.
I suffered with a seven-year-old potato of a machine that was even more out-of-date than yours is until recently, so I feel your frustration when games just can't run or run terrible.
I'm pretty sure IBM's big iron would struggle to run Rust at the moment.
Elix is right you do need to upgrade your ram to 8gb or more and move to 64bit windows, but you also need to move up to a Video card that has more than 1gb ram, go for 3gb if you can.

Alright, I can't really afford a 64bit thing so I certainly can't afford a new comp. I might need to save a few years to get it. LMAO. But I tried to play Rust this morning on my SCHOOL LAPTOP, and it worked?!?! I haven't checked if it's got a 64 bit thing but it worked but it was really, really laggy bc it's a laptop, ofc. But it worked?? Idk anymore I feel scammed bc I have to pay alot of money for new things I can't afford to play ;-; anyway thanks for the help I guess. *sigh*

I wouldn't know how to install a 3gb video card or where to get one but thanks anyway.
