I'm jw, how to you attract people to a vanilla server? I already have the name with stuff like FastCraft | No Dura | Wipe 6/29 | Lots Of Airdrops |
is this in the modded server list?
No
i am looking for it in the community servers and cant find it
Advertise! Make sure you have a good admin team, Work well to deal with situations and problems. Get to know people, Have fun and a laugh in chat with your players... In turn this will most likely get them to bring their friends in too. Get a webpage and forum. It is harder with vanilla as you can't offer incentives but with only the above I have 3 times opened a new server and got a population of 30+ in 24 hours. Also no one here knows your server IP.. so get into the server sub-forum and get it listed! Even though you don't use plug ins get yourself listed on TopRustServers and encourage your community to vote for you, in return they will get more players = more bases to raid.
what is the server name?
Moose Gaming, I just wiped it because we had an issue [editline]29th June 2014[/editline] Moose gaming with a ton of stuff after it*
what is the minimum players for airdrops and does it have C4? [editline]29th June 2014[/editline] cant find your server online

You have to be as active as you can and ban hackers after much investigation.I ran a server for only a month and my banlist had more than 50 usernames! Also in a vanilla server it is nearly impossible to stop griefing, but people generally appreciate it if you try to help them get their base functional again. Also, try to have some events if you like.Find a good spot away from the playable map,and build an arena or a labyrinth and every so often host events. Always keep an eye if other admins are abusing and try to know them and trust them. People will appreciate if you have a really zero abuse server and everyday more and more will come
Make a server that's like every other server, one that blends right in next to all the other eight thousand servers there are. There's about twice as many servers as there are Rust players, but another airdrop spamming vanilla server without durability and half to quarter crafting times, because, you know, Rust is so hard, is just the way to get people playing. On a serious note, work hard. I mean, even we are working hard with our own developers pushing out daily updates on our [URL="http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1405343&p=45255727&viewfull=1#post45255727"]chocolate [/URL]command system and whatnots and still don't get that much traffic. You need to offer something to the players.

These folks using the php rcon class to add commands and alter the game environment and still being classified as vanilla and showing up under community. It's modded and its really lame to advertise it as vanilla. off topic sorry but it bugs me.

So it's kinda vanilla and it kinda isn't, I guess one should make a term for that. edit: let's call it chocolate, because you know, it's not vanilla :D edit2: also, I think it's good that they are listed in the community server list because that seperates them from binary modded servers.
Get people on your server? Hope for a migration to the new branch. I've ran a server for the past 7 months, almost 5000 unique logins and I can't keep it full...hell I can barely break 10-12 peeps. I add a lot of the regulars on steam so they can report hax and stuff when I'm on my mobile and not at a PC and they have all left Rust while they wait for the new branch. Long story short...the player base has been shot to hell while we wait for the next big update
