Why not add RUST to the hatchet so it decays over a period of time!
As you may know, the game is in very early alpha, this suggestion may be implemented later on in its development life. I personally love the idea of decaying objects in game; it makes it a more hardcore, like experience. Just to say, they have already implemented a small bit of decay to wooden houses etc, so the rust idea may already be in the process of being made, who knows :D
Wouldn't work because if a person goes away for more than 1 day, they might not have the resources for a hatchet. Also, there are over 13,000 people playing (and it's an ALPHA, imagine if it gets released) and the player gets a new hatchet each time they respawn, so a decaying hatchet wouldn't work. And the hatchet is in your inventory, it's not a placeable item.

i think rust is just a temp name.
i think rust is just a temp name.
Keep thinking...
There's also no Garry in Garry's Mod.
Garry's Rust
There's also no Garry in Garry's Mod.
well excuse me I must go off and ask people to make a garry newman on the garrys mod workshop
The hatchet is the starting item. Making it so that it decays and becomes unusable is a horrible idea.
I think there might be a Garry in Garry's Mod..
I'd suggest it decaying over use not over time ( Or atleast in-game time, not server-time ) Plus I'm guessing the game will get more features which will help you get resources other than with a hatchet, assuming that you won't start with one in the future anymore.
As I have said before, it makes no sense to call a game rust, let alone playrust, as you do not play with rust, the game itself has nothing to do with rust. From what you see in the videos wood is far greater and more prominent, most importantly rust as a name is common, "common as muck". A game with a common name like rust, just ain't going to go very far at all, as it clash's with too many already rusty things out there. The creator of the name obviously had no imagination or idea of originality, he/she just plonked it down as a game name, The game itself makes no match to the name at all. It in fact is useless.

You're not going to find any in the game Also, rust is synonymous with decay and old age. Obviously in Rust, society has decayed (with everything else you see ingame) after whatever apocalyptic event happened to spawn so much radiation and zombies. It is a fitting name. Just wrap your head around the fact that the title shouldn't always be EXTREMELY obvious. Also, the game's name isn't "PlayRust". "Play Rust" is just a phrase in the URL so that it's like "Use this site to play Rust".

well then
well then
Contributing great things to the conversation, I see.

So maybe Garry was subtly implying that people can work together in teams to rebuild pockets of society instead of massacring each other (with implementation of VoIP obviously) Or maybe I'm just over analyzing stuff, habit of English A-level. However Sleeping dogs is titled that because there is a saying in Hong Kong "Let sleeping dogs lie" which basically says to not look for trouble and keep yourself to yourself. If you ever played the game it'll hit you on a certain mission where you wish the protagonist followed said advice. Now I'm trying to think of a game which has a pointless title. usually all are sensible. How about 7 days to die? maybe its not quite implemented it because its per-alpha but yeah i don't see any relevance there. I understand the dying but why 7 days?
its a catchy name
