If i had an backdoor i use it to go out then, they enter my base.
I wait outside they come out and then i'll start shooting behind a rock or from a forest!

My first thought would be to ask in the chat who is currently raiding a base.
If oFrizz or Ricky from ingame was one of them i would piss my self, hide in the very corner behind my doors.
Sit completely still while hoping their grenades run out before they get to me.

Now that is how a real man survives!

Apparently you have not researched one sir, they are indeed craftable. But they require gunpowder and something else, totally not worth it.

Flares are in fact craftable. It takes 8 metal fragments and 8 gunpowder to make one.
