I am a console gamer that plays less then a hour a day on my Xbox 360 now i have rust and i am using up 9 hrs a day of my life playing and i am not sure why? Can you please tell me if you think narcotics are involved in this game?

It's simple really. It's like why does someone who spent hundreds of dollars in league, play league? The fact is this: In rust you make a base. That is your base, you made it, you put time and effort into it, you want to protect it. Now that's like having a family, you spend time with it. You are invested in it. Since you invested your time into something, you invest more time into it to get what ever it may be out of it. Pleasure, Money, Happyness, whatever. The point I'm trying to make is simple. You fight for what you've made, and you don't wish to leave it to rot. That is where the countless hours of getting supplies, building beds to be able to defend your home better, getting more weapons, and taking out those who may wish to harm your creation. More or less it's like Minecraft on steroids. Kids rage on minecraft if they get griefed, in rust you can get revenge and defend the griefing. That is where the countless hours are spent.

I'm honestly curious as to why Garry decided it would be a wise idea to let all this trash in, I understand that it's nice to have a successful product, but all that it's doing is hurting your community by letting the average DayZ and Minecraft player into the mix of an already existing "somewhat intelligent" gaming community.

Every game Was a piece of shit, and still is to someone. Points of view. Rust is decent for the stage it is in. I personally am not a fps fan, but I enjoyed the gameplay of rust. The little battles that happen raiding and defending can be quite intense. If you have invested time into making something, and then you defend it as best as you can you get a sort of adrenaline rush which isn't very common. That is what is the addicting part of the game in my opinion.
Adrenaline is a drug if you didn't know. Your body gets "high" off of it. So rust could be considered easy access to a unique kind of "high".

I played the shit out of minecraft and made this awesome castle and then decided to really start gathering some cool stuff and the-
didn't play it again, didn't even get that many hours into it.
Rust i got a "Rush" (if you get adrenaline full on from that you must be boring), but it really isn't made enough to be addicting. I'm hopefully it'll become really good, but its not much right now.

My point is, why do you play a sport? You play sports for the adrenaline rush, for the praise from teamates, and what not. Rust has the same, if you manage to win a 1v3 or 1v4 and defend your base, your teamates usually compliment you and you get an adrenaline rush. The only difference is you don't get physical activity while doing so.
If you can't understand that, you've never played a fps and won when the odds are against you. I can't help you there.
Also, Adrenaline is a drug, you can get ADDICTED to it.

I've had one before when I was super super pissed, its a defense response when you get really angry or really panicked, or do things like... jump off a plane, etc. Usually you end up burning it all up and feel insanely calm afterwards because you have nothing left.
In the end, yes that can be very fun, but the point is that the combat isn't nearly refined enough to be really that fair, and it doesn't equate to any real released games out there quite yet.

I grew up on fast paced shoot-em-ups like Serious Sam and such, and enjoyed a bunch of time killing in fort wars in Gmod and other things
in gmod, its basically fuck with the admins and undermine everything they do and get away with it, completely scot free.
