• Suggestion - Tester Recognition

Here's an idea that could be implemented later on in the development phase. The alpha testers should be given recognition when the game is completed, like a star or radiation symbol next to their name. Kinda short but it would be nice.
I Suppose its a nice touch, long time before they take any notice of that kind of stuff tho.
it'd be kinda cool i guess
Please don't give the beggars another reason to want an Alpha key.
Don't give the beggars another reason to want an Alpha key.
I dont think a star will cause beggers by the masses to suddenly appear
It worked for minecraft - they offered 'free future expansions' in there Alpha; drove up tonnes of sales. Not a single paid update to date.

I don't think many of the Alpha Testers deserve or really need a 'star of appreciation'. They didn't really do much but play the game, give one to MrN, Helk and Garry; case closed.

Alpha testers are essential, and it's not really "a star of appreciation", it's just so alpha testers are recognized as being alpha testers. It's not a real advantage at all.
Please don't give the beggars another reason to want an Alpha key.
"Omg the alpha testers get recognized, I have to beg just for the star" They already have plenty of reasons to beg, not over a silly star.
case closed.
I don't think so.

The people playing aren't 'alpha testers' and are most certainly not testing. Considering the player base I wouldn't put it past them... I feel sorry for anybody involved with the production of this game - they have to put up with key beggars, countless unoriginal suggestions, constantly being active to monitor this terrible sub-forum. Also - there is a difference between making actual points and stupidly tearing apart somebody's post and making witty remarks for each point - you achieved the latter.
The people playing aren't 'alpha testers' and are most certainly not testing. Considering the player base I wouldn't put it past them...
And? They are still alpha testers. I am sure the ones with accounts actually played for a little bit, even if they are inactive now, but that doesn't matter.
Yes it does - you want to give them an award.

You sir/miss have no idea about alpha testing it seems, I've done it dozens of times. I've beta tested tons of mmorpg's in closed and open betas as well. Finding issues that involve Anything. Large scale buildings, Large scale people, Large scale battles, griefing, whatever it is. The ones I listen is what happens when you have people playing. You might not understand this, but the big groups often talk to helk and pat "Two of the devs" and tell them their opinions and what they've found to be wrong with the game.

Plus the accounts would be worth alot more and might go into a market...
they're not gonna give a bonus to people that played a game before it's release. they might for a couple of people that they actually know have helped, but they wouldn't give it to people just because they're in the alpha, that's just silly.
I want diamond camo for my M4 for testing.
or you could get a different colored name insted of yellow/orange or something like
Usually these things come in as a surprise, now it probably won't happen anymore because everyone will be expecting it to. Like those hats and vintage stuff on TF2.
I want diamond camo for my M4 for testing.
It's not the same
they're not gonna give a bonus to people that played a game before it's release. they might for a couple of people that they actually know have helped, but they wouldn't give it to people just because they're in the alpha, that's just silly.
It's not a bonus or reward. It is to show that these people were alpha testers. I repeat, it is not a bonus, it is not an award.
Except the thing is that 95% of the people that play the game in it's alpha stage right now aren't "testers" in any way shape or form and just play the game. And when they find a bug, they just bitch about it because they don't know how to file a proper bug report.
Eh, most of you guys don't play this to test the game. Most of you play this for the sake of playing it. I see no reason why any of you should get any “badge“ or status to show off how big your cock is.
It's not a bonus or reward. It is to show that these people were alpha testers. I repeat, it is not a bonus, it is not an award.
still unnecessary, it'll just be for people to feel ~superior~
still unnecessary, it'll just be for people to feel ~superior~
Thats the same as the forum though? "Oh he joined in 2013, I'm better than him" That is the exact same as saying "I've played since Alpha, I'm better than you" It fits this community perfectly in my opinion.
elitism on facepunch doesn't make elitism on rust acceptable. you don't improve shit by making more shit.
elitism on facepunch doesn't make elitism on rust acceptable. you don't improve shit by making more shit.
You have to satisfy the forum backing the game somehow don't you?
yes you do that by making a good game stop trying to be witty
Maybe a little symbol or something for people who actually helped the game by submitting bug reports, etc. Not by just being there.
still unnecessary, it'll just be for people to feel ~superior~
Not really. For examples, I don't see people with Minecraft capes running around gloating and shit. Some of them are dumbasses, but they don't think that their capes make them superior. The gold or silver mercenary badge in TF2 don't typically make people think they are superior. This is kinda less than those, it is a group of pixels to show "Hey, I was around during alpha!" [editline]Poop[/editline] If you were right, this would happen: "Hurr durr I got a cape I am better than you" "Hurr durr my mercenary badge is silver I am better than you" "Hurr durr I have a silly rad symbol next to my name I am better than you" But that doesn't happen. And if somebody is gloating about being an alpha tester, too fucking bad. It doesn't matter if they do, anyways, because by doing that, they are making a complete fool out of themselves and they would be flamed and made fun of, :3 And for more of an example why gloating isn't a big deal, tell me how you would respond to somebody saying that they are better than you because they were an alpha tester. How would you respond if somebody thought they were better than you if say, they had a mustang or some shit? Here's how I would respond: "Big fucking whoop, dumbass. Goodbye."
