Hello folks,
so, last week I bought a key of Rust and started playing it. After some deaths, I respawn near some buildings and found a 9mm pistol plus +11 ammo (9mm ammo) on them. Then, leaving to the forest, I spotted a zombie, and grabbed my brand new pistol. I felt ready. And with my freezy little bird dangling I started to sprint towards the zombie to kill it, then I've stopped in about 15 meters from it and tried to shoot its head. Missed. Then I tried again, but the pistol just didn't fired, no noise, no bullet lost, messages, nothing. I clicked the mouse and it just wasn't shooting anymore. I looked at my inventory to see if something happened with the ammo but it was still there. And the pistol just didn't fired anymore.
Is this a bug? Or there is some kind of behavior (like weapon breaking/jamming) that I don't know?
try reloading the gun, R key
Dude, I can't believe I didn't thought that.
Probably because I'm used to games like counter strike that give you the number of bullets you have... damn. I will try this the next time, thanks.
You have two things:
- Weapon
- Available ammo
The weapon comes with a number (when you find it in a box is normally 1) and that number means the ammunition INSIDE the magazine. So once you fired you had no bullets in your magazine but you did have bullets in your inventory.
Then you hit the reload key (R by default) and put some of those available bullets inside the pistol.

New guns always have 1 bullet inside. ONLY ONE.
The rest needs to be loaded in.
THe game doesn't have auto reload.

Good to know, I bet a lot of players comming from mainstream FPS will die at least one time with a gun and a bunch of bullets because of that.
There is also an indicator on the hotbar with how many rounds are loaded in the gun. It is represented in yellow.
Why have I got the feeling that this is a troll post ^^ ?
Mine?

It is not. I'm used to play CS:Source / BF3 alot, these kind of games generally let you see the number of bullets clearly and also do the auto-reload of weapons. I didn't even thought about it when I was trying to shoot the zombie.
