Im sure this has been asked on the forum already and im sure some of you have had the same thoughts as me so here we go.
Ive never played Rust or dayz before (well i played the mod for like 10 minutes) and i find both games looks really interesting but im not gonna buy both at first if it really isnt me after all so what would you guys recommend? Im sure i can get a straight answer even tho its a rust forum ;) at first im gonna play alone but theres a chance that i get some friends to play with me at some point :P
Rust is really big fun!
When you are in a group of 5 guys and raiding your neighborhood than its soooo awesome.
I think when the game is done and the beta is over it will be a incomparable and stunning game.
BUT
there are at the moment a lot of hackers which really destroy the fun

In my opinion, the possibility to create and gather things makes everythings greater ! There are cheaters atm tho ... but this is going to change eventually ;)
In the long run...you are probably going to get more bang for your buck with Rust.
At the moment, you will have more to do and more hours invested in Rust than DayZ.
I got both the games during christmas holiday and played both a bit. For me Rust is more fun mainly due to the gathering/building aspect of the game that really opens a lot of options. I like the controls better as well.
I only played both games a bit so my capability to judge the games is very limited as I havent dont everything possible in both the games. I can say though that I would buy Rust again for 15Euro without any thought but would think about buying DayZ again.
why dont you ask in the dayz forum ?!
Never ask a question of "what should I get" in any forum of that game. People are going to say the game that you posted the forum in.

Theres a 50/50 chance on which forum would give me a straight answer. If you dont have anything to say then dont say it. Simple :)
If you can, I would say get both games. I was a fan of DayZ mod so naturally I got DayZ Standalone. However I also enjoy Rust.
If you are more of a solo player, I think Rust at least in it's current form will offer a better experience, since you won't have to constantly look over your shoulder, you have a base you can store items in, etc. Whereas in DayZ as a solo player you are pretty much at a disadvantage to anyone else that has at least one buddy who plays, and your gear is pretty much limited to each "life" since there's no way to store gear in Standalone as of yet until tents and base building are added down the road.
If I was hard pressed I'd say get Standalone if you absolutely had to choose, since at the end of the day I'm a bigger fan of DayZ in general but as said if you can afford both get both games.
