I was actually trying out on Blender for the first time to model something and this gun came to my mind.
I could've just posted a picture of the original gun, but whatever.
I know the gun, can't post link atm, but I think this would be a neat sub-in for the ol MP5.

Not exactly makeshift, but it seems more viable than an mp5, in my opinion. Keep working on your model, and give it a makeshift feel, you might be onto something. (don't forget to skin it!)
