• Steam overlay not working. Any ideas?

Is anyone else having this issue? My other games work fine. Overlay is enabled for Steam and also rust. I always run the game full screen. I use the default Shift+tab, and I have tried a few other keys and key combos to no avail.
Try running the game in window mode and see if the overlay works there.
Nope doesn't work in window mode either. Maybe it's cause I'm on Windows 8? I'm out of ideas.
Properties > General > Make sure ''Enable Steam community In-Game'' Did I help?

Try running in lower resolution.. enable it when you get a decent FPS and you're not loading stuff by yet.. press it once.. DONT SPAM IT or it'll fuck it up..

I'm on Win8 since release and I'm very happy with it as it works even better than Win7 which is already damn good. Don't have 8.1 yet though. Try reinstalling the game and if that doesn't help try reinstalling steam. I've had problems with my Steam that was already over 3 years old without installing it new. But before that backup your Steamapps folder or else you gonna regret that. After the installation just drop the Steamapps folder back into the new steam folder and everything should be fine again.
Looks like the latest patch fixed the overlay not working.
im having the same issue, cannot access steam overlay while in rust, since the latest patch
im having the same issue, cannot access steam overlay while in rust, since the latest patch
Open up Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and check to see if GameOverlayUI.exe is running in the processes list, even after your game is closed. Sometimes the overlay can crash and hang, so that the overlay stops working until you either restart the system or close that process.
