Not sure if this would work, but what about a smart phone app. It would send an alert to your smartphone (Or even pager) if your door was opened when you were offline. Just a thought.

No, that's a horrible idea. And anyway, I raid with my buddy, he stands guard whilst I destroy the bodies and sleeping bags first. So unless you can boot your PC and Rust in the time it takes me to destroy a few sleeping bags, and then you manage to make it past a shotgun guarding the door whilst you are naked with a rock. Yeah, app alert sounds really helpful.
Maybe once they implement traps and whatnot it could even notify when a trap is triggered.
Didn't a dev actually mention this idea a while back? I remember mobile alerts being mentioned on the blog or by Garry on the forums.

Doesn´t help most of the time. (sleep, work, not at home...)
And for me it´s kinda gamebreaking and unfair.
Poeple who are not at home 24/7 are more disadvantaged and if you believe it or not, there are still Poeple who can´t afford or don´t want to have a Smartphone.
I think we don´t have to connect everything with smartphones. It is unnecessary and don´t fit in this game if you ask me.

So in real life you would get an alert from an alarm police would be called extra So I guess the only real solution here is to have a craftable alarm and sensors in your house what the raiders would need to take out.
Other than that how would you suppose it would work? I mean I have a wood house without lights or electric so the only option here is can and string from cloth and metal!

All this while some kind of comedy music plays in the background. And said kid accidentally helps people out in his rush, like he knocks out a would have been purse snatcher and other such accidental heroics.
Or sleepers could have AI. So, when you log off, your AI wakes up.
If this ever happens, it won't be anytime soon. Something on this sorta scale would be waaaaaay down the line of development.

my first post was a cynical reply to an awful idea. I tried to show how much i didn´t like it trough sarcasm.
I explained why it is a bad idea a few posts later. so what?

The idea has appeal - maybe someone in Rust can come to your door and knock on it to sell the alarm system to us also that transmits to a selected mobile number ;)
On a serious note - maybe 'at least' you can have a desktop 'sleeper' app, just as if you were alseep you can see the noise level around your room.
