Over the countless hours I've stared at my screen watching videos of people play Rust, I've come to a conclusion on my suggestion. My suggestion is that there is a friend system implemented. I don't know if Rust was supposed to be a "go off on your own, build shit, kill pplz" type of game or "hav clan wars" type of game. I haven't experienced this myself due to not having the game, but it seems like alot of teams are being formed over skype, teamspeak, mumble, and such. No matter how the game is made, its probably going to turn team-based. So why not add friends? Here's what I was thinking: Commands: /friend /accept Uses: /friend - Sends a request to the user you would like to befriend. /accept - Accepts the friend request sent from the user. I'm not good at closing forum posts, so bye, accept my suggestion, and stuff
Okay, I have another suggestion I'm bad at starting and ending threads. My suggestion: Shovel. Recipe for crafting: 50 metal fragments 10 wood Use: Dig holes in the ground. Holes are the size of a wood foundation, and I have no idea how thick it should be. You can get in the holes. If you dig 3 down, you will reach rock. You can mine it with a pick, it will give you metal and sulfur. Once you dig that 1 layer of rock, it turns to bedrock which is indestructible. I think this would change gameplay dramatically, introducing trenches and shit. So you guys know I'm bad at closing threads so bye
hi I thought of another suggestion. Lamps. Crafting: 50 charcoal 50 metal fragments Use: Light areas up. Okay, right now we're going to use the perimeter of a wood foundation as 1 block. The lamp lights an area like this: O = Light X = Dark Z = Empty Space L = Lamp ZZOZZ ZOOOZ OOLOO ZOOOZ ZZOZZ It's basically a campfire on steroids. bye
Could you please put the 3 suggestions you just made into 1 topic? Making 3 seems a little unnecessary.
Can't do that, threads are already made. I might just put a thing that's like: glasspopcorn's suggestions
i dont know if its a good suggestion..but you arent banned so maybe should be good, i hate my pad _-_:v:

Each time you put your suggestions in this thread it get's bumped, so it's a better idea to put all on the top post instead of autobumping yourself
Why do you want to do everything via the console? Why do you want to turn a game into a command line program?
I think it would be a good idea to give notifications in the info area, were a friend system implemented. like "xyz has added you as a friend". I agree, though; I'd reserve commands for things you aren't expected to use regularly. What would be a more interesting discussion is what the friend system should do (what's allowed between friends, etc.). I'm thinking of something really simple, different from the inventory popup (given the context). maybe like the chose team/buy menu in 1.6 to hold the friend list, settings but that might just be rust triggered nostalgia haha. commands may be best to start off with since having different menus and popups gets clunky fast. PS @glasspopcorn: when I read your shovel suggestion, my first thought was that that's just copying minecraft but I gave it more thought and it could be cool in terms of trenches, basements. I'm only a novice when it comes to coding, but it sounds like a big undertaking for this kind of engine. There's the map and then there objects and they usually don't mix. that's why 'destructible environments' are usually objects that only look like part of the map. in a game like this, digging wouldn't be uncovering something that's there, but adding a hole tub-like object in the map.

Maybe they could also make a hate list? With a GUI.
