• The Greatest Rust Heist Ever Pulled

Recently started up a new character on a server with over 100 population. Found myself in the Next Valley (My favorite location), and got to work. There was a clan with the tag [TSH] nearby who kept finding me and taxing me 10 wood or a few stones, which started to get annoying after about 5 taxes. When I finally made a shelter, I went to see where they lived. They had just started building their house, and you could walk in through the roof at the moment. I decided to try to get some materials in the dead of night, but was noticed and killed. When I spawned back in my shed, they were already there hacking it down - while I was scouting their house they were on the move. They broke it down, killed me, and got rid of my sleeping bag. About an hour later, I found my way back to Next Valley. This time I made sure I already had materials from other places so as not to be taxed. I made a shelter in the hills, completely out of sight. I had a friend with me this time, and we came up with a plan. I noticed that you could jump on top of their (now finished) house, and that there were windows in the front, so I figured that would be my way in. My friend went up to them offering gifts and distracting them, there were currently two online. While he did this, I jumped in through the window and found a sleeper. I came up with a new plan; I killed the sleeper, got rid of his backpack, and disconnected right where he had. I searched the guys outside's friendlist and found an offline member named [TSH]StAtlc, and changed my name to that. I then logged back in, after being told they entered the house, and typed in all chat that i had broken my headset. They said it sucked, went to their store room and opened the metal doors along the way. While they were crafting and smelting things, I looted each chest. About a hundred 9mm bullets, four m9's, a shot gun, mp5's, hundreds of cloth, about a thousand metal, and some food. I jumped out the window and hid my spoils. They then complained to admins about a hacker that stole their stuff, because none of their doors were broken. I then revealed myself and explained my story, eventually revealing that I was the person they raided earlier, and finished with a "Fuck You". The admin told them that they were outplayed, and I went on my way. Server name was RUST++*WIPE[1/6/2014]*USEast|PVP|SLP|NoobFriendly|ActiveAdmin
Hahahah! What a great story man! That would have made an ace Rust video :D
That's a great story man.
Good play
Emergent gameplay, bravo, sir! Bravo!
love the story, i usually dont read too much of this stuff. well played, glad the admin didn't do anything about it.
Bloody genius :D I always had a plan like this in the back of my head but could never find anyone to execute it on :P
Had to tag the Winner icon there, nice one lol
awesome story lol.
Hah, this is great! It's stories like this that make me want to stick with this game in the face of all the hackers and stuff. Great example of what this game is meant to be.
Epic, I'm glad that you told them what happened... It's extremely obnoxious that every time someone gets killed or raided they blame a hacker right away. This is totally sweet though lol.
Holy shit that was actually pretty genius. I plan on doing this soon on an enemy.
This is an amazing story. Close the forums, we're done here.
They then complained to admins about a hacker that stole their stuff, because none of their doors were broken.
This is probably the explanation for at least 2 out of every 3 "OMG HACKER" posts. Noob question, though - how do you change your name? I thought it had to match your steam name.
This is exactly why I love sandboxes. Well played. [editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
Noob question, though - how do you change your name? I thought it had to match your steam name.
You realize you can change your Steam name, right?
awesome story! Thanks for sharing :)

Morale of the story.. never put windows in your base.
You realize you can change your Steam name, right?
I do, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't some other way.
Im adding this to my tumblr for rust stories if you dont mind. http://rust-stories.tumblr.com/
One of the best, if not the best, rust stories I've heard! I wish I could see those guys reaction! Clever move on your part changing your name..
When I raid, I usually go through walls and replace them on my way out. Of course, hackers are usually blamed.
Great Heist! Just watch out with Name Impersonations as Steam doesnt find it too funny although I doubt they will do something against it for something of no real value.

Fucking beaut mate!
Morale of the story.. never put windows in your base.
Thankfully metal bars for windows are already in the current dev build. 100 metal fragments per window, and they work on wooden windows too.
When I raid, I usually go through walls and replace them on my way out. Of course, hackers are usually blamed.
This is EXACTLY what I do.. even though it takes more c4 most of the time and my own building supplies.. but fawk it.. they never know what hit them ^_^
Very impressive! Hands down the best story I've heard from this board.
Well played bro.
Amazing story to read. Them taxing people is also a brilliant scheme as well. Keeps the new players suppressed so they can't catch up to their progress and they get resources to advance their own building. Well played!
Clever. I enjoyed, would read again. 10/10
