Too many dead servers displaying on the server list.

Did anyone else noticed that the # of servers is continuously going up on the server list ?
Today saw 4k players on and almost 6k servers. Am i the only one that is a little bit worried about the future ? If we got so many dead/broken servers now, imagine when/if the server gets released to the public ?
I feel like the server list should be a little bit more stricter otherwise we will soon have twice more servers than players ( or maybe more ). Not mention there are a LOT of cracked and custom servers on the server list (home servers ).
I know i know its " okay " so far but i'm talking about the future.
What do you guys think ? are you ok with almost almost 90% of the servers having 0 players ? Or do you think somenthing should be done ?
In my opinion, servers with 0 players or servers that was not managed in x days should not show up on the server list until they do a "check-up". Somenthing like a manual heartbeat.
This topic is problably a little bit controversal and its problably touching on a very sensitive spot so please dont have or anything.
Thanks,
It's all about the cash bro.
Part of it is that so many servers have emerged because anyone and everyone can host a server for pretty cheap. The other part is the hardcode editing that's happening, which is causing slower update speeds, which in turn is causing people to back away for a bit. IMHO people will pop back in once content addition becomes more streamlined (once hardcode-hell has been traversed and conquered)
The servers aren't the problem, the lower player base is. I maintain a server because I know I have a place to comfortably play when I want to, as well as a few regulars that like my server, but don't play much. Yea, it's kind of disheartening when there's not many other players, but after a few major updates, the game may pick up again.
Filters would solve the problem. They just need to make us able to filter all empty servers out for example. Or sort them by popularity. Just something, because this list is a pain in the ass.
It's just a rush of servers, wait till next month and they will die out. Think if you paid 'x' amount for a server that no one played on would you cancel the 'x' amount from leaving your bank each month?
I would.
They just need to add filtering to the server browser. This should be pretty simple to do...don't know why it's not on the Trello.
you can just sort by # of players anytime...

True but there is still a serious lack of basic filtering options.
Filters and search would be fantastic (but obvious) improvements to the server list.

The only problem with that is that once a server's population dips down enough it can't find anymore players because of that server sorting. It then dies a slow death that sees its remaining loyal players forced to switch to more populated servers. There should be more filter options for things like server traffic to keep a popular server on the list even if it's a slow day, and a public rating system to prevent servers with bad admins getting populated.
