More survival games coming out, what are your thoughts?

Within the next 2 months, 3 new awesome survival games will be coming out with early access releases: The Forest, Miscreated and just recently announced, H1Z1. I'm very excited for these games, but I'm also still psyched about Rust, and the new update that's sure to come in the next few weeks and the subsequent updates to follow. I personally see myself losing more and more free time to these awesome games coming out, how does everyone else feel about the recent array of games within this genre? Will you still play Rust? Do you even care about these other games? If you do, what do you think of them? How do you think FP will react with all this competition cropping up? Share your thoughts below. I'm here for you.
Is it just me or do Miscreated and H1Z1 look almost exactly the same?
The forest looks fun, but I've gotten the feeling that it's really really scripted... but that one I'll probably try.
The other two..... meh. Super generic, typical "survival" game that's suddenly the "cool" thing to do (even thought it's already been done).
That said, according to the art that's been released Miscreated does look very nice.
It's the next bandwagon and Rust needs to hurry up and get to a finished state before it's lost in the fodder...IMO anyway.

I'm also concerned with the potential scripted-ness of The Forest, which would take away from the open world they've made, but in interviews w/ Endnight games, the devs over there have said that there's a passive mode, and that the story behind it is mostly only uncoverable if you're actively looking for it, so I'm taking that as a good sign as far as freedom-base play goes.
And I agree w/ H1Z1 and Miscreated looking very similar, I think H1Z1 is a lot further along though, plus their software grants them like 2K player servers which is nutssssss. We'll see how they turn out. I think I'm most stoked for The Forest though.
It's about time to be honest, I remember struggling to find any survival games to play a few years back, stuff like Stranded II was the closest I could find.

I think that this competition will boost their work ethic even higher than it already is, and we (the players) will reap the benefits :)
It's kinda funny how even the dinosaur The Stomping Land one was started AFTER rust and yet they've made so much more progression on their games then rust has. All these games seemed to be started AFTER rust and yet seem so far more developed. It makes me sad for Garry and his team but at the same time happy other people are putting in the effort that gary has seemed to abandon.

I really dug modding FO3 w/ primary needs mods and stuff and just scavenging, these games (esp H1Z1) really quench that thirst for me, w/ the added bonus of multiplayer (and better graphics, physics, animations, still love Fallout but damn those running animations...)

I agree w/ you, at the very least we could say that the hype behind games like Rust and DayZ has fueled this emergent genre (I know it's been around a while, just not as detailed as these games) to where all of us kiddies wanting to crap our pants while starving in the woods finally get a plethora of options to do that in. I still think Rust and DayZ will continue developing, but at their typical slowish pace, while other companies pump stuff out at a faster pace. I think in the end Rust will end up being a cult classic of survival games, and when it's finished it'll be great (same w/ DayZ) but I think, like Gmod, there's a loooong distance between start and finish.
Hmmmm so the industry has figured out that a fully open PVP sandbox with full loot / raiding makes money :O holly crap, its not like that niche of the market hasn't been asking for it for 15+ years since the starter games that had this UO, AC, ect fizzled out.

The time of the supersoldier is over. The time of the ex-accountant now wielding a hatchet while crawling through an abandoned grocery store has come.
not gonna lie tho, the fact that Sony is doing H1Z1 kinda has me Leary of buying it...

Yyyeeeaaahhhh.... probably a good idea to wait until more gameplay footage/comprehensive detail comes out before purchase. Still, with servers that size, it has potential to be pretty neat. Imagine some of the group wars on that!
The forest is the kind of game you buy for a friend to get them into survival games. Or to scare the shit out of them.
Frankly, if I were to play a zombie MMO I would just go back to The Secret World.
i think rust needs to get on xbox to not get lost in the competition

That's more than likely a looooong ways away
H1Z1 looks promesing, but we'll just have to see. Not sure about Miscreated, couldn't find much on youtube.
The Forest is single player (for now) so i'll buy that once they add multiplayer most likely.
Or when i have alot of money..
Which never happens so yeah.. *ugh*
Dont forget about the stomping land. But yeah rust really has to do something crazy to keep my attention after these new survivals come out.

Exactly, man! Exactly.
I had a post about rust losing out on its player base if garry did not step up his game.... I said those big companies gonna see the $$ rust and dayz made so fast and be like..... wow they made money on those shity engines... lets use a triple A engine and get all the money

It's going to be free to play.

And perhaps create something amazing,
companys will look for money, that's their goal, without it there is no business.
Once the money is settled they can spend it on stuff they need to make the game better.
Rust will be good to it'll just take some time. Which will also happen with the upcomming other zombie games.
It starts as "meh" buy can lead to a game that you'll enjoy,
Garry put out a prototype not a alpha period.... That interview with smed about his game... him playing being all giddy... the snipes at rocket and garry.... Thats how you win the community over not garry being fucking holier then now calling his player base babies
O and fucking jeeps??? ready to roll hahah love it fing love it.... Unity engine is garbage
Miscreated is a multiplayer, post-apocalyptic, survival-based sandbox game created using CRYENGINE
Exactly what I wished for rust. Now after 300 hours I love the gameplay and dont midn the graphics at all, but still.
IF these games turn out to be similar or have potential I will definitely buy them :) miscreated at least. FP, y u no Cryengine ;(
Garry has stated that unity engine is cheap *swear to god*
H1Z1 looks promising for sure.
Don't get me wrong I love rust *1400 hours*... I loved it so much i downloaded unity to try and learn something but... i failed horribly...but I am a gamer/consumer not a maker of games... nor should I have to be but I mean come on... DayzS and Rust have made bank....
I bet smedly played some rust... loved it so much he was like wtf... I can do this shit twice as good twice as fast... $$$$$$$$$$
They all look like promising games, but Rust seems to take 1st place because of its OG status.
I doubt they will be better than Rust, but having games of the same genre is better for us, players, I think.
h1z1 using planetside 2 engine will look good for sure.
