Rust may be my favorite game of all time. But should I play Day Z. On a budget and dont know if I should spend the cash.

Depends on how much you like walking.

DayZ is a lot heavier on the actual FPS/gunplay side of the house, including more customization options as well as far more realistic mechanics. Rust's vibe is a lot more Minecraft-Blocks+Guns. If you don't know whether or not you should spend the cash, then read some reviews and watch gameplay videos, tutorials and walkthroughs. There's only about a...uh...GAZILLION. Then make up your mind. Bear in mind, DayZ is still in alpha too though. There's already a large percentage of players who own/play both DayZ and Rust.
Im gonna wait for dayz to include vehicles again. how can the standalone still not have any when the mod had everything from bicycle to helictoper?

Due to the fact the engine they use consists of coding from both the arma2 and 3 engine, most of the vehicles from the mod no longer work as intended. if youve played both arma 2 and 3, you will of noticed a huge change in the feel of driving. for the most part, everything is improved. because of the engine mix, they cant just steal from either game, they have to make their own to function properly. they probably could port it over and make it work well enough as a placeholder.. but noooo. sucks for us, because it seems like they arnt doing any placeholders.. id prefer them to throw in a shitty bike than nothing at all. ive probably spent more time reading about dayz than playing it.. the lack of transport certainly deters me from playing one thing to keep in mind is the price of dayz could possibly go up, the same way arma 3 did(20$ in alpha, 40$ in beta, 60$ at release). i only say this as its possible. i dont think dean wants to charge anymore than 30 though.
thanks guys.. im picking it up.
Dayz is more about survival. Its also very realistic. Its also about the life experience and not worrying about hoarding gearfor later lifes.
I have played dayz for like 4 hours and it is boring as hell. I enjoyed being handcuffed and fed rotten bananas by the friendly neighborhood militia but for the other three hours I played I was just running around, not finding weapons or food or anyone to interact with. Not a good use of my time if you ask me.
I was a big supporter of Dayz, however I had to bring myself to realise the Engine just isnt up to it and never will be. Look up a game called H1Z1 a new Zombie MMO, they already have everything working that Dayz cant as yet . There will also be 1000's online , the Map will be The USA , the whole of it
