This thread is intended to serve as an advertisement for our server and as a discussion topic for our server community. Feel free to post here to report issues or just to chat with other players on the server.
So, why should you join our server over the myriad other servers that are available right now?

So, time for those pesky server rules:
• [B]No hacking or exploiting of any kind, this will result in an instant perma-ban from our server[/B]
• [B]Be respectful of the community, whilst we appreciate sometimes things can get heated during PVP please don't make personal remarks. Keep it classy.[/B]
• [B]English speaking only in global chat please[/B]
• [B]Racism or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated on our server. This type of behaviour will result in a permanent ban[/B]
So, there's the summary. Now a little more about the server and future plans. The server went live on Sunday, November 10th so it's only a couple of days old at the time of writing this. As a result it is still quite lowly populated but we're hoping that by creating this thread and offering a good service we'll start to pull in some more players who will come to call our server home. As I put above we do offer access to our mumble server for players on our server, you will be able to access the public rust channels on there and chat with other rust players. We will offer any clans who make our server their home their own private mumble channel also (If you require more channels please contact an administrator and we'll see if we can accomodate you).
The server is the home of [URL="http://www.haventeam.net"]Haven[/URL], a friendly gaming community that aims to establish a trading outpost. We're not an aggressive group by nature and if you're friendly towards us you can expect the same treatment in return. As an active International community you can expect to see some of our members online at most times of the day. Despite Haven's non-aggressive nature we do welcome bandit/marauder clans on our server, we do enjoy PVP and appreciate that raiding is a big part of the game hence the server being PVP and sleeper enabled. Our admins will never abuse their position. You'll never see one of our server admins teleporting, spawning in items or otherwise messing with the server settings. All we want as players is a level playing field for all and that is exactly what you will get when you make our server your home.
We have discussed server events but we feel that whether we run events or not should be something that our server community decides rather than the admins, for that reason at this time we're focused on offering a pure rust experience. We'll look at events again in the future and if that's what our server community would like to see then so be it.

We've temporarily disabled our server as our host is suffering a DDOS attack causing practically unplayable lag. Once they have that under control we'll have the server back online. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Quick bump for our server. Population has increased nicely over the past few days but still plenty of room for other players to make our server their home. Friendly, welcoming admins who don't abuse powers and a public mumble server are just a couple of the benefits that come with out server. Come and get involved :)
One of them killed me with a silenced pistol, 50 foundations distance of 3 bullets without any misses, I cured myself with bandages as he dodged and ran zigzagging between the trees. In 90 hours there was nothing like it ever happened to me ... judge for yourselves

Sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately as I'm sure you can appreciate as admins we can't simply ban everybody that is accused of cheating. Do you have any evidence to support your claims? Any recorded gameplay or screenshots?

Connection is a bit laggy atm, keeps freezelagging and booting me from the game
Apologies to everyone for last nights issues. The server was laggy for a period of time and we experienced two crashes, one of which corrupted the save so we had to perform a slight rollback (by about 10 mins). Hopefully these issues should now be resolved.
Meh. Admins abusing their powers banning people left and right for no reason.
Pointless.

Just a quick update - Since the game went live on Steam our server has become one of the highest populated privately hosted EU servers currently live. Yesterday we hit 180 players at peak and were [B]the[/B] most populated private server on the list several times throughout the day, even having a higher population than the Official servers at one point.
Our servers community can attest to the fact that our admins are active and friendly in chat. We've been answering many questions about the game from newer players following the Steam release and we continue to establish ourselves as a friendly, welcoming community. Of course, sometimes we have to kick or ban people for varying reasons and it's a shame that it's usually those who feel they've been wronged that are the more vocal and will take to the forums to slate us or complain about our server.
At the end of the day we're paying for a service out of our own pocket and all we want is to provide a fair, level playing field for everybody who chooses to play on our server.
A couple of things worth mentioning also; unfortunately we did have to wipe the server twice within a week. Wipes suck, we know! We don't want you to lose all of your hard work, we don't want to lose our hard work (as don't forget us admins are actually playing the game too) but unfortunately this is going to happen periodically, it's an alpha at the end of the day. We plan to be here for a long long time, well after the game launches and of course when that comes hopefully there will be no more wipes but until then all we can do is grit our teeth and stick it out.
The last wipe was a few days ago to coincide with the Steam release and to give any newer players who came to our server a better chance of not getting screwed over by fully kitted out players. Hopefully this will be the last wipe for a while. Fingers crossed we won't need to wipe again until well in to the new year but again, alpha, these things happen.
Finally, two more players have been given Admin responsibilities. They're friendly and fair like all of our admins and if you need any help they'll be happy to assist you in any way they can. If you feel an admin has behaved inappropriately you can contact me personally either via PM here on the FacePunch forums or on Steam (see OP for a list of all admins Steam accounts). I'll be happy to investigate any issues and if I discover that an admin has behaved irresponsibly they will have their admin rights revoked immediately.

Haven's a really great server!!! especially if you kill anybody - what happens then is Haven's giant group of around 10-15 guys(muscley heroes) come and find where you live - then say that they are friendly (how dignified) you open the door and then they shotgun you in the face, oh and if you say anything they don't like boom you're banned. bunch of scum bags don't waste your time on this sickening excuse for a server. Our duty as admins =/= our actions as [B]players[/B] in-game on [B]a server we're paying for[/B]. We're an anti-bandit coalition. You and your team were bandits, we killed you. You took issue with that and continuously abused the admins for around 15 minutes despite several warnings to cool down and pretty much the whole server telling you to stop being whiny little bitches and stfu (there were approximately 80 people online on the server at the time).
You weren't banned btw, you were kicked. Not surprised to find that you only started playing the game with the Steam release, you clearly haven't been playing long enough to know how things work. Most clans of our size would have shot you and offered no explanation, you're lucky I'm giving you one at all since I'm under no obligation to do so.
So, to summarise: Haven = Anti-Bandit team, you = Bandit. You weren't bitching when it was you and four of your buddies repeatedly killing bambi's but as soon as a larger, more co-ordinated force steam rolls you you take issue. Meh, it's a game, get a grip.
So we're aware of the server issues over the past few days and we know that it's extremely frustrating for the players on our server, trust us that we're doing all we can to sort these problems and are working around the clock with our host to try and resolve this.
We believe in transparency and for that reason I'm attaching some screen caps of the email correspondence with our host from this evening so that you can all see where we're at with this:

As a precautionary measure, on the off-chance this issue cannot be resolved we are currently renting a secondary 100 slot server from a different host that we may well end up switching to as our official server. Feel free to play on this in the meantime, you can find it by looking for [B]Haven Test Server[/B] in the community list and I can confirm that it is currently up and running.
We are in the process of setting up a Twitter account for our server and we'll keep that updated, in the meantime you can check our [URL="http://www.haventeam.net"]website[/URL] or this thread for frequent updates.

As you can probably gather from the above screen caps we'll be switching our hosting provider. I can't help but feel we're being spun a yarn tbh, Thomas clearly states he's not sure what the issue is despite this happening for two nights running, then German goes on to claim that it is down to an attack on our server; If that's true then surely it's the responsibility of the host to help resolve the matter? We're paying for a service that we're clearly not receiving and that last response from German is basically telling us to carry on paying for a server we can't even play on and just wait for the devs to fix it (coz ya know, they don't have more important things to be doing like making the game).
Believe us that we're genuinely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused our players. We understand your frustration; we've gone from being the most populated privately hosted EU server to not having a server online for more than 12 hours now which has undoubtedly caused irreparable harm to our server population.
We'll be calling our new server the same name as the old one to hopefully pull back in a few of our players - Haven | PVP/Sleeper | English. I'll also be initiating a refund request through PayPal and showing them the above correspondence, hopefully we'll get the money back we paid upfront for the next month of hosting.
A message for PlayRust.EU and FacePunch - I really think you need to sort yourselves out. PlayRust, you're clearly overselling your servers and are failing to meet the promises you state in your FAQ. FP, if this is the best company you guys can come up with for hosting... Well, suffice to say I foresee quite a lot of forced refund requests through PayPal in the coming weeks and months. Personally, if I were you I'd distance yourself from this 'hosting' company as quickly as possible.
Another update. We have now switched our host, the new server is 100 slots as opposed to 250 but we'll increase this in time if need be. Unfortunately our population has taken a pretty big hit as we expected it to but we're already seeing familiar faces re-joining which is great. The new server has been named the same as the old one making it easier for people to find - [B]Haven | PVP/Sleeper | English[/B]. We are running a back-up that we made last night, December 14th at 10pm GMT, this is the most recent back-up we have available to us after our original server crashed so unfortunately some players may have lost some progress :(
We appreciate that losing progress is frustrating guys we really do and we share in that frustration; the admins are out of pocket 70 euro's which we paid upfront for a months server hosting and now the host is refusing to refund us. By rights we could have just said 'forget this server hosting malarky' and gone and played on someone else's server but we haven't, we've rented a completely new server and uploaded a back-up from the old server to try and ensure people haven't lost all of their progress.
Regarding the refund, we've now had to open a PayPal dispute unfortunately as PlayRust.EU won't accept responsibility and do the right thing by providing us a refund. We'll keep you guys updated on the progress of that dispute and below you'll find a screen cap of the current correspondence via the PayPal resolution center:

Again, we sincerely apologize for the issues our playerbase has suffered over the past few days. We've been overwhelmed by the fantastic support and responses from our loyal players, you guys are why we continue to host a server instead of just jacking it in. Right now we're feeling a little disheartened and ripped off to say the least but to have our players continuously support us by saying what a great job we're doing is really uplifting so thank you guys.
