If you want to play old Rust, there you go.
The devs stopped support on the old Rust two years ago. It's dead. Get over it. Even if the devs stopped developing the current version and went back and took the two-year-dead code and cleaned it up instead, it would still turn into the current version.
Rust has sold tons of copies since the new version was playable, so they're selling the game just fine without throwing two years worth of work out in order to go back to a messy codebase full of Unity Store stock assets you've seen in dozens of crap games.
Go look into Hurtworld if you're looking for a Rust Legacy clone that has devs working on it.
