Hello. First off, I would like to say that I am a firm believer in not hacking or cheating anyway, I like to earn my items in game and real life. I was VAC banned for a reason that i am not aware. I had fallen through several rocks and the map before, but i was under the impression it was just a game glitch, so i did not report it. If this is the reasoning for me being banned in-game, i would like to request an un-ban. I absolutely love your game Garry and for the life of me cant figure out why i was banned. I love the new updates and hate that i cannot play with them. Please remove the VAC ban asap if you will. I will very much appreciate it. Sincerely, A Beloved Fan of Rust!
There appear to have been some false positives with this latest patch, with people getting VAC flagged for speedhacking after getting kicked for speedhacking from using the admin teleport command, and such. Good luck.
All of my friends have also been wrongfully vac banned today, nobody knows what is going on
That's REALLY weird... I have fallen through the map a good number of times, no ban on me... Are you sure you weren't possibly running something in the background that could be a false positive?
Ive been falling threw the map a ton and dying then today im with my friends and i get VAC banned and now i cant plan on any server with them
screw you, cheaters
god, this game is so full of exploits and bugs and now erroneous VAC bans resulting from those bugs FP had no business selling this game as an alpha.
Similar to the previous posts, I've also been "VAC BANNED" for no apparent reason relating to the game. I was torrenting the other day and playing and my ping was quite high as a result of this. I was kicked from my usual server with the console saying I was "Speed hacking". Could this ban be because of that?
If you had anything like a memory editor/debugger program running, that can get you banned. I remember WarZ bans (despite the actual false positive bans), the cheat provider told all banned users to complain for false bans. If you were playing legit, I would send a support ticket to steam. It might be possible from game bugs, I hope not.
Same with me, Please get me un-banned because I already had a witness that said I wasn't hacking. But the admin banned me and one of the devs banned me.
UTorrent count as either of those? I just read the second post - my friend is the owner of a server and has teleported me around a few times; each time I was instantly kicked from the server. I wrote Steam; God help us with their horid response time.

That's all VAC cares about "is this external software trying to modify me". It's also pretty hard to get Valve to reverse a VAC ban, there needs to be concrete proof that it is caused by some error in the game or on the developers side for them to even consider it. If you were using third party modifications to teleport, Valve are fairly unlikely to unban you, it's a risk you take with third party software in games protected by VAC. An old HL mod caused false-positives at one point and I don't remember hearing anyone being unbanned.
i got banned!? ive never done anything... ive never even fallen of the map O.O please help
I'm a server admin, VAC banned about 10 minutes ago. Pretty ridiculous.

In regards to third party software - no, our server is un-modded as far as I know. I was not using any modifications to teleport and my friend was just using the in game admin functions.
Everyone on my friends list is vac banned and some haven't played in days

I don't actually own Rust or care about it so I haven't been following things like this. It (if you're lucky) could be something similar to the MW2 false positive, in that the developer changed something, VAC knows about the change, but clients didn't receive the change. In which case it'd be reversed after Valve investigate a bit.
I'm not really buying your excuse; VAC only bans if you have something hooking into the game's executable and modifying it client-side... (unless there's a wave of false positives but that would be really weird)

Whilst VAC is pretty tight now, they are still possible. With tons of reports coming in at once it must seem a bit strange surely?

Stranger yet, my Steam status is also showing VAC as in "Good Status". /facedesk
The teleport gets you kicked if you have the server option enabled that checks for strange player activity. The teleport flags you as suspicious because your movement speed is too great to go from point A to point B in less than a second. The server option isn't coded to ignore admin teleport commands. This flag is what is getting reported to VAC, from what I've read, which results in a VAC ban. Same with people falling through the map, but have read less about that issue and getting kicked.

I do however run the Rust Admin AHK overlay for ease of use. https://github.com/buckeyemonkey/RustAdmin/ I definitely think it's something you guys should probably look in to.
1k cheaters banned. the cheats producer told them to report it as false. EXPECT 200 FALSE POSITIVE REPORTS. DON'T UNBAN.
i got a friend banned on my own server , he was at my side then got dced with a vac ban

I can rejoin and it works fine, but immediately following a teleport I am disconnected.
Looks like I'll have to stop teleporting around doing player checks until this gets sorted out. I was kicked yesterday after the patch while teleporting with truth enabled. Guess we'll see if I get hit with the VAC hammer.
WOW...What a great system VAC is..Can't detect who's cheating so lets just ban a ton of players and only unban the ones that complain...What a system...gratz valve and Gary! Well done!

We've turned off the server option and tried it to prove it.
same.. but what can we do to prove that we where not hacking.. we cant, so what other choice do I have besides buying the game again?
